    By Adebanjo Zainab Adejoke  The Executive Council of the Faculty of The Social Sciences Students' Association (FATSSSA) has announced a Stakeholders meeting to address the issues of the Faculty upcoming events.  This meeting is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, 4th of August at 5pm in the SLT, of which it is compulsory for all Stakeholders to attend. The presence of all Fatsssa Executives, Organ Heads, Principal Officers of the House, Departmental Presidents and Social Directors, Departmental Speakers, Class Representatives and erstwhile Leaders available in school was requested.  According to the memo, the meeting will focus on discussions concerning the upcoming Faculty events including SOS Picnic, FATSSSA Week, Cultural Night, Dinner/ Pageantry as well as other activities concerning the Association.  The Executive Council therefore urged all invited Stakeholders to be punctual and contribute significantly to the discussion.  

Ayoolajesu Victoria Ojo The Faculty of The Social Sciences Students’ Association (FATSSSA), University of Ibadan, has announced the inauguration of a new leadership at the management level, marking the beginning of a new administrative tenure. According to a statement released by the Association today, Sunday, 2nd of August 2026, Professor Olajide O. Akanji of the Department of Political Science has been formally inaugurated as the Dean, Faculty of The Social Sciences, while Dr Godwin Daniels, also of the Department of Political Science, has assumed office as the Sub-Dean of the Faculty. The statement clearly indicated this change showing that the transition is already complete and effective. In a statement issued on Thursday, July 23, and signed by the Students' Union President, Temidayo Adeboye, and the General Secretary, Joshua Shontan, the union acknowledged students growing anticipation over the issue and the inconvenience caused by the delay.   Peace Nkenta The Executive Council of the Faculty of The Social Sciences Students’ Association released a memo to the general Fatsssa public addressing the recent Legislative - Executive dispute. This development occured today, Friday, 19th of June 2026.  In its address, the Executive Council extended its appreciation to Fatsssaites for their patience, understanding and commitment throughout the recent events that have tested the unity, peace and stability of the Association. It stated how an agreement of understanding has been established between both arms, where it communicated that based on this, the FHR would release an official memorandum retracting its previous declaratives on the Executive Council, of which the House did in the early hours of the day. Peace Nkenta On Friday, 19th of June 2026, the Fatsssa House of Representatives (FHR) released a memo to the general Fatsssa populace, addressing the issue of the impeachment of the President, in person of Peter Adegoke and the suspension of four other members of the Executive Council, as follows; the Vice President - Triumph Israel, the Financial Secretary - Matthew Itodo, the Social Director - Adeoye Fifehanmi and the Sports Director - Obinna Kingsley.  The House communicated that upon due consultations and internal deliberations, the decision to restore all affected members of the Executive Council was adopted therefore nullifying all previous directives, hence concluding with a preserved status quo.  It further stated that this decision was taken in the spirit of unity, reconciliation, progress and the collective interests of Fatsssaites, with the aim of allowing both arms of the Association resume on a fresh slate, working together in peace and productivity.  A call ...

  By Faith Ajewole  Some minutes after 8pm, on Saturday, May 16, 2026, the FATSSSA Executive Council released an official memo in response to the impeachment of the Faculty President, Peter Adegoke, and the suspension of four other executive members by the Faculty House of Representatives. The statement, titled “RESTORING CONFIDENCE TO FATSSSAITES; THE PRESIDENT STILL REMAINS IN OFFICE AND THERE SHALL BE NO SUSPENSION OF ANY OF THE EXECUTIVE MEMBERS,” rejected the impeachment and suspension verdicts, while outlining reasons the council believes the decisions should not stand.     Peace Nkenta As at 2:25p.m on Friday, the 15th of May 2026, Peter Adegoke, President of the Faculty of The Social Sciences was impeached with a total of 14 out of 16 votes which represented more than two-thirds of the House and four other members of the executive council (which included the Vice President, the Social Director, the Sports Director and the Financial Secretary) were suspended for two weeks with a total of 9 out of 16 votes during the ordinary sitting held at the Small Lecture Theater (SLT).  This development stemmed from the several altercations between the FHR and the Executive Council. Peace Nkenta The Independent Fatsssa Electoral Commission (IFEC) held the Fatsssa House of Representatives (FHR) bye-elections for the 2025/26 session today, Thursday, 19th of March 2026.  A notice on this election was released on Tuesday, 17th of March 2026 and the election which was meant to have taken place on Wednesday, 18th of March 2026 was shifted and it took place today.  The voting process happened via links shared in respective level groups across departments in the Faculty for fatsssaites to participate and the links were opened until 4pm today.

In a statement issued by the Student Affairs Division and signed by the Dean of Students, Demola Lewis, the Accommodation Module on the student portal will be open to fresh and final-year undergraduates from February 17 to 23, 2026. The university stressed that submission through the portal within this window is mandatory for consideration in the Halls of Residence. Applicants are required to log into the portal, select the Hall Application option, and fill out the form, including next-of-kin, and other relevant details. Final year students must confirm their Jaja registration status before proceeding. After submission, candidates are to monitor the Hall Allocation page for the Hall Warden’s decision. The calendar was circulated across various official platforms on January 26th, 2026. According to the calendar, the first semester commenced on January 19th and is scheduled to run until June 26th.
