Faculty of The Social Sciences Triumphs Over Faculty of Science in Bilateral Debate

 


Faculty of The Social Sciences emerged victorious over the Faculty of Science in a bilateral debate held on August 14 at the Faculty Lecture Theatre (FLT), Faculty of Science, University of Ibadan.

The debate, organised by the Faculty of Science Literary and Debating Society, featured the motion: “Has Imported Theories Erased the Relevance of Indigenous Knowledge in Nigerian Scholarship?”




Representing Faculty of The Social Sciences, Legbo Comfort Amina and Oriolowo Goodluck Abolade argued against the motion, defending the continued relevance of indigenous knowledge in Nigerian scholarship.

The Faculty of The Social Sciences secured 62 points, edging out the Faculty of Science, in a closely contested intellectual battle.

The victory highlights the faculty’s strong performance in excellent critical-thinking skills and public speaking.
