FATSSSA WEEK '25: A SIX-DAY LONG EVENT

  News Peace Nkenta The Faculty of The Social Sciences Association (FATSSSA) started its week yesterday, 3rd of November, with a Conference, and will end on Saturday, 8th of November 2025, with programs planned for each day of the Week till the last day. The theme for this year's week is “ONE WITH US”. Fatsssa week is a sessional program where various enlightening and entertaining events take place in the Association.  Events to be featured include: Fatsssa Conference, Health Day, Creatives Connect, Sports Day, Financial Summit, and Cultural Day. 

FATSSSA HOLDS A CONFERENCE TO COMMENCE ITS WEEK

News Peace Nkenta The Faculty of The Social Sciences held a conference yesterday on Monday, November 3, 2025. This conference was the first of its programs featured for the week. The conference began with opening prayers offered by representatives from the audience, followed by the National Anthem and the University's anthems. A welcome address was given by the President of the Faculty, Mr Boluwatife Animashaun, encouraging students to participate actively in the event. Afterwards, the Vice President of the Faculty, Precious Olajide was called upon for the opening remarks of the program.  The conference featured keynote speeches rendered by these speakers; Professor Janice Olawoye and Mrs Toroti Okogun. The speakers emphasized the significance of education which aids the development of strong creative skills. Sociology Emerges as the Winner of the Dean’s Cup.

The long-awaited grand finale of the Dean’s Cup in the Faculty of Social Sciences ended with a thrilling moment on 29th October,  leaving the entire crowd at the SUB field on their feet till the final whistle. The fierce battle was between two giants Political Science and Sociology. Both departments are known for their strength, strategy, and sportsmanship. From kickoff, it was clear that neither side was ready to surrender the crown easily. The match was an intense display of skill and determination, with both teams scoring one goal each, ending regular time in a 1-1 draw. The tension increased as the game proceeded to the decisive penalty shootout. In a breathtaking moment of glory, Sociology held their nerves and triumphed 5-4, edging out Political Science to emerge as the undisputed champions of this year’s competition. The victory sent waves of jubilation across the field, as supporters of the Sociology department erupted in chants, cheers, and celebration.
