UI'SU SECURES DEADLINE EXTENSION BY A DAY

  Peace Nkenta The University of Ibadan Students’ Union (UI'SU) sent out a memo to the general student community on Monday, 7th of July 2025 informing them of a successful secure of deadline extension by a day with the University Management. This deadline as asserted by the Executive Council was for students who were genuinely unable to pay their fees and complete their course registrations before the previous deadline which was June 30 despite all efforts made.  The Union stated that the student portal would be opened from 10:00 a.m today and close exactly 10:00 a.m tomorrow, Tuesday, 8th of July 2025. They advised concerned students to take advantage of this, reiterating that this was critical for the validations of their studentship for the ongoing academic session. They affirmed their unwavering commitment to ensure that no student is left behind due to financial constraints or administrative lapses.

REASON BEHIND THE ADJOURNMENT OF THE SITTING

  YAKUBU MATHIDA The third legislative sitting of the Faculty of the Social Sciences Students’ Association (FATSSSA), University of Ibadan, which was initially scheduled to hold physically on Thursday July 4, 2025, was postponed and rescheduled to hold virtually on Sunday july 6, 2025. The sitting, which was held online via Google meet platform, supposed to be officially commenced at exactly 6:00 p.m. Mr. Speaker began the session by requesting a show of hands to confirm the attendance of honourable members and principal officers. However, it was soon observed that not all members were present, prompting concern from the Speaker. Despite waiting for additional members to join, the number of honourable in attendance couldn’t form a quorum. Hence, by 6:50 p.m the Speaker announced the adjournment and cancellation of the sitting. He further stated that all honourable members and principal officers who failed to attend the sitting without prior notice would be fined a sum of ₦2,000. ...

FHR Meeting Stalled As Honourable Members Failed To Show Up.

  USMAN TOHEEB   The Faculty House of Representatives (FHR) was forced to suspend its scheduled meeting yesterday due to the low attendance of her Honorable members. The meeting, originally slated to begin at 6:00 p.m., failed to commence as only few members showed up online far from the required quorum to initiate proceedings. Despite repeated efforts by the Speaker, who placed calls to absentees, the turnout remained disappointingly low. For nearly an hour, the leadership tried to salvage the situation. But at exactly 6:50 p.m., the Speaker officially suspended the sitting, citing the failure to meet the constitutional requirement for a quorum. As a consequence of not performing their duty, a fine of ₦2,000 was imposed on all principal officers and members who failed to attend the meeting. FRESHERS PROCEED TO START THEIR FIRST EXAMINATION IN UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN.

  Peace Nkenta The Center for General Studies proceeds with GES and GST Examination. The exams which were slated to run from Monday, July 7 till Thursday, July 10, 2025 as the first exams for the semester of the 2024/2025 session. Alongside the timetable released, were a few instructions students should take note of which included; Examination venue, a means of identification and strict adherence to arrival time. To know their exam schedule and venue, students have been advised to log into the CGS portal, inputing their username and password. The GST will be the first examination that the freshers will take as it has always been the first exam for every student in the school regardless of their department.  The Faculty examination will proceed afterwards for the first set of faculties and the second set including Social Sciences will proceed with theirs starting from July 28, 2025, according to the school calendar.
