NOTICE ON LECTURE FREE PERIOD

  By Adebanjo Zainab The Dean, Faculty of The Social Sciences, has announced that all lectures and other scheduled academic activities in the Faculty will be suspended between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon on Wednesday, August 19, 2026.  This announcement was contained in a memo issued and addressed to the general populace of Fatsssa. According to the notice, the suspension is to enable students and members of the Faculty participate fully in a Faculty Lecture titled “Quantum Redirections and ‘the Field’ in Global Social Science,” which will be delivered by Professor Oka Obono. The Dean further encouraged students to take advantage of the opportunity to attend the lecture and participate actively in the intellectual engagement.

We have heard about how important discipline, consistency, attending lectures, doing assignments and also reading every day are, especially to avoid bulky materials. ‎But have we ever thought about how feasible this is? It seems like a case of easier said than done. ‎We can imagine a student who sets an alarm to wake up at night to revise but wakes up at 8:00 a.m. the following day. Perhaps it is no longer about setting priorities but about how to fulfil them, because sometimes, nature may have another plan. ‎So, before we blame that student or cram another line of motivation into our heads, we should take nature into consideration. ‎Yes, discipline is important.
