SOUND DECISIONS: UNRAVELING THE WHY BEHIND OUR NEW PUBLIC ADDRESS SYSTEM

By Ayebawanaemi Tarinabo-Debo  On January 16th, 2024, the 61st Executive Council of FATSSSA UI (THE PARAGONS) made a significant announcement regarding the acquisition of a new Public Address System through the FATSSSA General platform. The procurement includes a state-of-the-art 15-inch double-coned speaker paired with a wired microphone, specifically intended for the revitalization of the existing P.A. System within the association. According to the Executives, the new Public Address System is dedicated to the benefit of the entire Faculty, making it available for widespread use. The decision to invest in this audio enhancement system was motivated by three primary factors outlined by the FATSSSA President. FATSSSA Financial Oversight: A Transparent Review of the January 12th, 2024 FHR Sitting

By Doja The FHR Sitting on the 12th of January, 2024, started with the FATSSSSA President, Mr Dasaolu Olamide’s presentation of the budget for the excursion; it was during his presentation of the budget that Mr Olumide revealed that the Dean of the Faculty had officially disapproved of the excursion even though he had gotten verbal approval prior to this time. According to Mr President, in the document he presented before the House, 69 persons paid N5,000 each, giving a total of N345,000. The House of Representatives required that the Audit Committee vet the documents presented by Mr President before students’ fees are reimbursed.  The Sports Director also presented a letter requesting the withdrawal of the sum of 60,000 Naira. According to him, the money is for sponsorship of jerseys for the male football team as provided by CampusPay, which the FATSSSA Treasurer transferred to the association account. Ado-Awaye Excursion Cancelled: Safety Concerns Lead to Disappointment

  By Nnagboro Vivian   On the 13th of January 2024, the faculty executives announced that the excursion scheduled to be held on the 16th of January 2024 to Ado-Awaye to explore different sites has been cancelled. The sites included the Iyake suspended lake, Ese Awon Agba (Footprint of the Elders), Oke Ishage (Ishage Rock), The Elephant Tree, and Ese Kan Aiye Ese Kan Orun. Issues with concern about the security and safety of the students were the reasons stated for the cancellation of the excursion. The dean who had formerly given his approval for the excursion withdrew it over recent security concerns in the area.    In the press release released by the executives, they apologised for any inconvenience that may have been caused to those who paid for the excursion. They also assured that those who paid would be fully refunded as soon as the FHR approves of the refund, however, it is expected to commence in the coming week.
