SOUND DECISIONS: UNRAVELING THE WHY BEHIND OUR NEW PUBLIC ADDRESS SYSTEM
By Ayebawanaemi Tarinabo-Debo
On January 16th, 2024, the 61st Executive Council of FATSSSA UI (THE PARAGONS) made a significant announcement regarding the acquisition of a new Public Address System through the FATSSSA General platform. The procurement includes a state-of-the-art 15-inch double-coned speaker paired with a wired microphone, specifically intended for the revitalization of the existing P.A. System within the association.
According to the Executives, the new Public Address System is dedicated to the benefit of the entire Faculty, making it available for widespread use. The decision to invest in this audio enhancement system was motivated by three primary factors outlined by the FATSSSA President.
Firstly, the initiative stemmed from concerns raised by the Staff Adviser and some lecturers about the inadequacy of the previous P.A. System, causing disruptions during lectures. The need for a solution became evident, prompting the decision to procure an advanced system.
Secondly, as part of the team's broader agenda involving various projects, there was a desire for a capital-intensive yet sustainable project. The criteria for selection included affordability and long-term viability, aligning with the association's commitment to prudent financial management.
Lastly, the urgency of the need for an improved P.A. System in response to pressing issues within the Faculty influenced the decision. In light of challenges faced in the education sector, the Executive Council aimed to contribute positively by facilitating a conducive learning environment for FATSSSAITES.
Addressing the benefits of the new Public Address System, the FATSSSA President highlighted the ability for two classes to utilize it simultaneously, thereby enhancing the efficiency of academic activities. Additionally, during Faculty and departmental events such as Faculty week and department week, the system can be employed for seminars, conferences, and other gatherings.
Furthermore, the smaller P.A. System is made available for external use, with interested parties encouraged to contact the Assistant General Secretary for rental inquiries.
Offering details on the specifications, the newly acquired Public Address System is identified as "Matushi," featuring a 15-inch double-cone speaker with a robust 10,000-watt battery. Notably, the system boasts an impressive 12-hour battery life when fully charged, ensuring sustained functionality for extended periods. This acquisition reflects the Executive Council's commitment to fostering an enriched learning environment and facilitating diverse events within the Faculty.
