As at 2:25p.m on Friday, the 15th of May 2026, Peter Adegoke, President of the Faculty of The Social Sciences was impeached with a total of 14 out of 16 votes which represented more than two-thirds of the House and four other members of the executive council (which included the Vice President, the Social Director, the Sports Director and the Financial Secretary) were suspended for two weeks with a total of 9 out of 16 votes during the ordinary sitting held at the Small Lecture Theater (SLT).

This development stemmed from the several altercations between the FHR and the Executive Council. The debates featured a number of issues; insubordination on the part of members of the executive council, the restricted access of Fatsssaites to the Secretariat, the use of the Secretariat by other departments in the Faculty, the resistance of some members of the executive council on the payment of fines on account of neglect of duty, a stance taken by the President when questioned by the Chief Whip of the House on the reason why sanctioned members of the executive council were yet to make their payments.

During the heated sessions, the President stated that his freedom of speech was being infringed upon and together with the Vice President - Triumph Israel, he asserted that the executive council was being disrespected by the House, declaring that this has been an ongoing issue, with the House not demonstrating the principle of fairness in their verdicts concerning the council. However, the Speaker of the House, Rt Hon Peter Oduola adresssed these issues by reading out the constitutional duties associated with the office of the Speaker as well as stating the procedures aligned with debates in the House. The President refusing to accept these positions, walked out of the sitting with other members of the council and on his way out declared that until members of the executive council were treated with due respect, they won't attend sittings.

After the verdicts were passed, the Speaker declared that only the AGS, General Secretary and P.R.O would have access to the Secretariat and that the various inaugurated committees would function in the handling of responsibilities in place of the suspended executive members.
