Citizens of the republic of FATSSSA, it might had come as a surprise to many of us when we read in the resolution of the FHR in its last sitting that the president of our great association Mr. Faith Ayomide Omitoyin aka Kafu alongside three members of the executive council had been suspended. For the advantage of those of us that have not read the resolution, here is a snippet: “The House noticed that there was some misappropriation of funds from the Executive arm  and the Finance ad-hoc committee  investigated and gave a feedback on the issue. NEWS FATSSSA PRESIDENT SUSPENDED! SPORTS DIRECTOR, FINANCIAL SECRETARY AND TREASURER ALSO SUSPENDED! HONOURABLES TO NOMINATE ACTING SPORTS DIRECTOR FOR DEANS CUP The president of the Faculty of the Social Sciences Students Association, Mr. Faith Ayomide Omitoyin was on Friday 5th October suspended by the Faculty House of Representatives. The president together with the treasurer, financial secretary and sports secretary were suspended indefinitely by the house until they are able to refund the sum of one hundred and forty two thousand three hundred and seventy naira (₦142,370) which they allegedly spent without the approval of the House. The president alongside the treasurer, financial secretary and the sports director had in a meeting  signed an undertaking stating that they would refund the money to FATSSSA purse on or before 30th September and that in their inability to do so they can be suspended. OPINION “Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power.” - Abraham Lincoln While the semester may not be so young again, it has however been riddled with several instances of misuse and abuse of power by certain principal officers of the FATSSSA legislative arm. Two principal officers of the FATSSSA legislative arm who have over time been caught in this web are the Speaker and Clerk of the House: Rt. Hon. Akinde Azeezat and Hon. Onyejegbu Stephen respectively. They have not only ridiculously displayed this on the floor of the house, they have also reflected this in most of the releases signed by them.
