FATSSSA Elects New Leader: Oyekanmi Faiz of Geography Department Takes Presidency

  By Bibi Agarah The Independent FATSSSA Electoral Commission has announced the results of the 2023 FATSSSA elections, marking the faculty's inaugural electronic election. Oyekanmi Faiz, hailing from the Department of Geography, secured victory in the presidential race with 242 votes, surpassing Koleosho Samuel with 197 votes and Popoola Gloria with 150 votes. Nwankwo Ekene emerged victorious in the vice-presidential contest, garnering 321 votes against his opponent's 265 votes. Opeseinta Elijah clinched success with 313 votes, defeating Balogun Samson who received 235 votes. Notably, Adekunle Adewale amassed 494 votes in the race for the PRO position. The election results were disclosed a few minutes past 4 PM. With Oyekanmi Faiz assuming the presidency, the Faculty of The Social Sciences (FATSSSA) welcomes a new leader from the Department of Geography.

FATSSSA VP ASPIRANT Withdraws, Citing Insufficient Internal Support

By Vivian Nnagboro In an unexpected turn of events, Tobi Obayemi, an aspirant for the Vice President position of the Faculty Association, has announced his withdrawal from the contest. Citing a lack of internal support, the aspirant expressed a heavy heart in stepping down from a role he was passionate about and dedicated to serving.   In a heartfelt message, the aspirant called for respect for his decision and requested all fellow aspirants and supporters to refrain from involving them in any further political activities for the foreseeable future.   He has expressed gratitude for the opportunity to have been considered for the role and thanked those who supported his campaign. The aspirant reaffirmed their commitment to contributing positively to the faculty in other capacities moving forward.
