UI’SU PLANS PEACEFUL PROTEST IF MDCAN STRIKE CONTINUES

Peace   N kenta The University of Ibadan, Students’ Union on April 17, 2025, released a memo addressing the ongoing strike by the Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDCAN). In the statement released, the UI’SU acknowledged the resilience and patience of the medical and dental students during the prolonged strike. After the meeting held on the 16th of April, 2025, by the University of Ibadan Medical Students’ Association (UIMSA) and University of Ibadan Association of Dental Students (UADS), the UI’SU stated that they were aware of the effect of the strike on the clinical students, and how it has taken an academic and emotional toll on them. The letter, signed by the President and General Secretary of the Students' Union decisively stated, that if the strike continues, a peaceful demonstration will be held on April 23, 2025. ARSENAL PROCEEDED TO THE SEMIFINALS.

Arsenal played Real Madrid at the Emirate stadium on 8th April, 2025 by defeating her counterpart with 3-0. with 2 goals from Declan Rice and a goal from Meriano. Madridsta strongly believes in their coming back, but tonight was horrible for the team. The match was played at Santiago Bernabeu tonight. Saka scored first, while Jnr. vinicius equalize back. A late goal from an Arsenal player (Martineli) decided the fate of the match, as Arsenal was crowned the winner of the match. Arsenal won 5-1 in aggregate. The Match was truly Red.

UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN HOLDS MATRICULATION CEREMONY FOR FRESH MEN OF THE 2024/2025 ACADEMIC SESSION

  Ageh Success The University of Ibadan officially held its 2024/2025 Matriculation Ceremony for the newly admitted freshmen on the 16th of April 2025, which is today at the prestigious International Conference Centre. The event, which marked a significant milestone in the lives of the fresh undergraduates, began with the arrival of matriculating students, university officials and parents. The ceremony featured the administration of the Matriculation Oath, conducted by the University Registrar, Mr. Ganiu Saliu, formally inducting the students into the institution. The Vice Chancellor, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, congratulated the new students for earning a place at Nigeria’s premier university. He emphasized the institution’s rich legacy of academic excellence and charged the students to uphold the university’s values. The Inauguration Of The Ifec Committee Members.

  Victoria Adeusi  Members of the Ifec committee were  Inaugurated at an emergency sitting held on 15th of April on Google Meet by 6p.m. The members of the Ifec Committee are: Adebayo Michael from 400l Sociology department, Isaiah-Ojo Ibukun Ruth from 400l sociology department, Arogundade Zainab from 200l Geography department, Akinola Aina Bankole 300l Geography department, Tiamiyu Aliyah from 300l Psychology department, and Opubor Fejiro from 400l Psychology department, the returning Officer For Ifec committee.  The sitting proceed with the other agenda scheduled for the sitting which is the lifting of ban of Bye-Election. The house has lifted the ban on Bye-Election, the electoral committee will therefore proceed to commence the process for Bye-Election for the Executives vacant position. Another agenda discussed was approval of collection of basic dues, a sum of #4000.

Egg Donation Is Not A Permanent Source Of Income: UI Health Service Cautions Female Students On IVF

Peace Nkata The management of the University Health Service released a memo advising on egg donation to the members of the University community on the 15th of April 2025. In this memo, the growing trend involving the participation and recruitment of female students by individuals, agents and agencies was expressed. The Director of UHS alarmed that while egg donation has brought hope to many families struggling with infertility, it is important to note that it shouldn't be considered as a permanent source of income or as an alternative “side hustle”. Further stated in the Memo were the variety of health risks to be attracted as a result of a continuous indulgement in this act. Some short term effects highlighted included; Abdominal Pain, Breast Tenderness, Bloating, Mood Swings, Ovarian Hyper stimulation Syndrome (OHSS), Infection and Bleeding, Potential injury to the Bladder, nearby blood vessels and Bowels and Psychological distress while a long term effect highlighted was loss o...
