SOMETHING IS COOKING

By Osarennoma Ogbeide Seven weeks down, five weeks to go. It seems like just yesterday that we started this session. Now, I already smell exams. Perhaps it is the activities saddled with the semester that aided the flight of time. The freshers now know road, stallites are getting used to the stress and finalists have become familiar with the routes to their supervisors office. We are now habituated to the absence of bikes except for the occasional outbursts due to the scarcity of kekes. The doors of course registration are gradually closing and handing the reigns of authority over to tests and exams. I smell exams; yes that is what is cooking. We are being bombarded with assignments, group projects and tests. Students are now beckoning on one of our associations to do what they do best. Little wonder why hearts were deeply broken when ASUU decided to strike on the 30th of July, only for the the VC to announce that it had been resolved barely 24 hours later. Many were unable to...

FHR Approves N167, 000 for the Total Students’ Conference

By Kayode Oyeniran  The FATSSSA House Representatives (FRH) in its sitting on Friday 9th August ,2019 approved the sum of N167, 000 for the upcoming Total Students’ Conference. The approval came after the N207, 900 budget presented to the House by the President was debated on the floor of the house. While speaking on the budget, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Williams Ugwuja emphasised the need for the executive council to source for funds beyond the FATSSSA purse so as to ensure that other programs of the administration do not lack the needed funds. The President, Mr. John Adeleke while presenting the budget noted some of the efforts taken to get sponsors for the Conference and he expressed his optimism about getting positive feedback from their intending sponsors. Among items included in the budget are: Publicity, Decoration, Sound System, Refreshment, Photography, Plaques, Essay Contest, Transportation and Miscellaneous. FATSSSA Legislative Forum: Onifade Bello, others urge legislators to acquaint themselves with knowledge

By Kayode Oyeniran The FATSSSA House of Representatives (FHR) at the weekend held a legislative forum at the Post Graduate Seminar Room of the department of Political Science. The forum which had in attendance legislators from across the various legislative councils in the Faculty of the Social Sciences was aimed at orientating legislators on the currents and dynamics of legislative proceedings. While speaking at the forum, Rt. Hon. Onifade Bello, a one-time speaker of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) stressed the need for honourable members to acquaint themselves with the requisite knowledge needed to carry out their legislative assignments.
