UCJ UI CELEBRATES WORLD PRESS FREEDOM DAY

  By Ageh Success Chidera In commemoration of May 3rd which is World Press Freedom Day, the Union of Campus Journalist, University of Ibadan set out on a Campus rally on the 2nd of May, 2025 to celebrate as well as educate students on the freedom of the Press and its importance to the society as a whole. Campus journalists converged at the Students’ Union building before moving on to various Halls of Residence on Campus.  The rally began around past 10 a.m at the Obafemi Awolowo Hall of Residence. The President of the Union, Olashile Ogunrinu, the Editor-in-Chief , Tolulope Ayeye and Aduwo Ayodele from Indy Press spoke to the students present in the Hall on the protection of journalism and advocacy of press freedom in the University of Ibadan.  The congregation then moved on to other Halls of Residence on Campus and the rally was then concluded at the University's main gate. UI'SU NOTIFIES STUDENT COMMUNITY ON TOWN HALL MEETING RESOLUTIONS

  By Peace Nkenta On the 2nd of May, 2025, a Town hall meeting was held with the University of Ibadan Students’ Union Executives and various student leaders from different constituencies. It was noted that about 150 student leaders were present at the meeting. The meeting began at 2:10 PM where the student leaders highlighted the challenges and issues encountered by students in their different constituencies. The UI’SU President, Covenant Odedele, stated the current activities and initiatives of the Union and as well expatiated on plans to collaborate with the student leaders to resolve the challenges identified. He also gave an update on the recent germane developments within the University, then an open forum was made available for comments and further discussions.  The meeting ended at 5:40 PM with the following resolutions; 1.  The UI’SU will compile and present all raised concerns and complaints to the University’s Management.  2.
