NICE LINUS SEEKS CLARIFICATION FROM UI-SRC OVER DISCIPLINARY ACTION

  Ageh Success Chidera Nice Linus has written to the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) requesting clarification over a disciplinary notice issued to her, raising questions about her status in the 12th Assembly and the conduct of the Council. In a letter dated June 4, 2025, Linus referenced a March release attached to her response where the Speaker of the House publicly stated reasons why she should not be reinstated as a member of the 12th Assembly. Based on that, Linus argued she was merely “an ordinary member of the Union,” and therefore not subject to the disciplinary powers of the SRC, which she claimed applied only to Council members. She also raised concerns about how the notice reached her, saying it was sent from an unknown number that replied to her inquiry with “You shall ask no questions.” Linus further exclaimed about how she had been receiving messages from unknown numbers with the assumption that her phone number was shared with the Department of State Services (...

SRC SUMMONS HONOURABLES OVER ALLEGED ASSAULT ON UI'SU EXECUTIVES

  News Ageh Success Chidera The Students’ Representative Council (SRC) of the University of Ibadan has formally notified three Honourables of disciplinary proceedings following an alleged assault on members of the Students’ Union Executive Council. In a letter sent out on June 2, 2025, the SRC accused Honorable Segun, a representative of Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall Constituency, Honourable Shalom, a representative of Queen Elizabeth II Hall Constituency and Honorable Nice Linus of engaging in an altercation that left the General Secretary of the Union injured. It was highlighted in the memo, that the three individuals accompanied by others on May, 15, 2025 stormed the Union’s office, confronting the executives which included the President, General Secretary and the P.R.O, over the issue of the proposed Congress. UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN CELEBRATES EXCELLENCE: 41 NEW NURSES INDUCTED, OUTSTANDING STUDENTS AWARDED.

  Faith Ajewole The University of Ibadan, on Wednesday, 4th of June, 2025, held a ceremony to induct 41 nursing students into the nursing profession. The ceremony was held at Paul Hendrickse Lecture Theater. The event began with an academic procession led by the Chairperson of the Ceremonial Committee. Four exceptional students who emerged as first-class graduates: Eunice Awe, the Best Graduating Student, Yakubu Jemilat, Ediworo Cynthia and Adebiyi Adekola Oluwapelumi, were congratulated by the Provost, College of Medicine, Prof T. O Ogundiran in his welcome address. He also conferred the Provost's award for excellent participation to Ebiaku Precious, the Erstwhile Faculty President and Iloanya Chukwuebuka.  Eunice Awe in her Valedictorian speech asserted, “We are now registered nurses, registered midwives, certified family planners, and registered public health nurses. UPDATE ON PAYMENT OF FEES

By Peace Nkenta The Executive Council of the University of Ibadan Students’ Union (UI'SU) on Tuesday, 3rd of June 2025 released a memo to the general student community updating them on the payment of school fees.  Highlighted in the memo, were the achievements of the Council in alleviating the worries of students concerning the payment of fees. These achievements included; A new deadline for school fees payment which is an additional two weeks to the initial deadline - June 6. This new deadline ends on Friday, June 20.  The reversal of studio fees charged to 300l to 500l students of the Faculty of Technology and the department of Science and Technology under the Faculty of Education.  The commitment of NELFUND and the University management for the imminent commencement of fees disbursement which is to begin today.  The Council expressed its appreciation to the student populace for its patience and trust in its leadership.
