NICE LINUS SEEKS CLARIFICATION FROM UI-SRC OVER DISCIPLINARY ACTION

Nice Linus has written to the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) requesting clarification over a disciplinary notice issued to her, raising questions about her status in the 12th Assembly and the conduct of the Council.

In a letter dated June 4, 2025, Linus referenced a March release attached to her response where the Speaker of the House publicly stated reasons why she should not be reinstated as a member of the 12th Assembly. Based on that, Linus argued she was merely “an ordinary member of the Union,” and therefore not subject to the disciplinary powers of the SRC, which she claimed applied only to Council members. She also raised concerns about how the notice reached her, saying it was sent from an unknown number that replied to her inquiry with “You shall ask no questions.” Linus further exclaimed about how she had been receiving messages from unknown numbers with the assumption that her phone number was shared with the Department of State Services (DSS) following the supposed “altercation,” by the President of the Students’ Union.

Linus concluded her correspondence by demanding clarity on all the issues raised, particularly regarding her recognition in the Council and the legitimacy of the disciplinary process. As of press time, the SRC has not responded to her letter.
