A special announcement, "Special Release 009", has been issued by the FATSSSA executives to inform all students about the significant changes that have been made to the cafeteria's menu.  The primary enhancement to the offerings is the inclusion of traditional Nigerian swallow dishes – amala, eba, fufu, and semo.    These additions were introduced based on student feedback, allowing them to have a wider variety of meal choices. This move aims to cater to diverse culinary preferences and provide a taste of familiar home-cooked meals for the students. These new additions to the menu promise to add variety and excitement to students...

Political instability: Should Military be given a chance?

Image
By Samuel Ajayi In the wake of recent elections, a cloud of distrust hangs heavy in the air. Betrayals by trusted friends, fractured relationships, job losses, and more have all been sacrificed on the altar of tribal sentiment. Many relationships have been torn due to friends imposing their objections on others. The victims, encompassing all Nigerians, are grappling with the negative repercussions. The elected officials are under immense pressure to devise policies that will uplift the lives of citizens, while the aggrieved often resort to the tribunal to reclaim stolen mandates. Enter the "Stolen Mandate" movement, which has sparked uproar among citizens, laced with tribal tensions and favoritism, causing a rift among friends and an alliance among foes due to the failure of consensus. Exactly 23 years ago, Nigeria broke free from the grip of military rule after enduring it for over 28 years. However, in recent weeks, some Nigerians have subtly called for military...

VALUE YOUR POSITION

Image
By Victoria Adeusi. The sun brightens  the day The moon brightens the night They are both light but function differently. They never struggle with one another. Imagine the sun struggling with the moon for night Imagine the moon struggling with the sun for a day. What will lighten the day? What will lighten the night? *Chaos* Each understanding of its function is what has given us light. Only if humans can learn from the sun and the moon we probably would have a better world. Probably, men will not harm themselves for power The innocents would have survived till now  Probably the  night will not be as terrifying as it is Perhaps the day will be as peaceful as the garden. Maybe our mind will experience all the peace it deserves. Presumably, our love for one another will fill the whole earth. But do we understand our position Why do we have to feel inferior or superior No function is irrelevant If man says the moon is irrelevant, then nothing will beautify the ni...

BRIDGE THE GAP: UNDERSTANDING STUDENT EXPECTATIONS OF FACULTY EXECUTIVES

Image
By Vivian Nnagboro A new session has begun for students of the Faculty of The Social Sciences, and this session has ushered in a new set of executives that will lead the association of this great faculty. During the election that took place last session, we were able to find out from the now-elected officials what their plans for the session were and how they intend to implement those plans. It is still too early to say if they can carry out all the plans mentioned in their manifestos. All we can do now is wait and hope this new set of executives doesn’t come bearing empty promises.  As long as the executives have the plans they wish to implement, it is only fair for the students to have things they expect to get from the executives this coming session. For any great association to prosper, not only do the leaders have to have viable ideas, but they also need to have followers who have a vision of how they intend to be led.  FATSSSA press was able to meet up with s...
