FATSSSA FINSEC FINALLY PROVIDES STATEMENT OF ACCOUNT

Olapanran Onala The Fatsssa Financial Secretary on Friday 5th of May 2017 made provision of the statement of account after much delay during the sitting of the Faculty House of Representatives. This was not after he tendered an apology to  Honourables for the delay. The statement provided by Adefowope Abiodun revealed a total balance of * One million eight hundred and forty one thousand, eight hundred and ninety five naira, seventy eight kobo (1,841,895.78) * only. To the disappointed of many however, the Financial Secretary, Abiodun Adefowope was unable to provide a figure of the number of students who had paid their dues. Also, a major amount of money was not reflected in the account and the money in question is the amount that was refunded by the individual who was contracted to produce Fatsssa shirts last year . It was revealed by the Financial Secretary that the President, Ogelekeme Jones was the only person who had access to the money in question . This has raised quest...

ANGRY POLITICAL SCIENCE HONOURABLES STAGE A WALK OUT AT FHR SITTING

Image
Olapanran Onala The duo of Honourables Ayoade Sherif (400L) and Azeezat (200L) representing Political Science constituency at the Faculty House of Representatives yesterday walked out angrily during the sitting when a vote by honourables didn't go in their favour. The duo had vehemently stood against the inauguration of one Mr Aquah Christian (now Hon. Aquah Christian) who is being co-opted by the President, Ogelekeme Jones. They based their stance on the fact that the said individual was a transfer student who was not done with his registration and as such not yet a full member of the association as well as the fact he had not paid his faculty dues. Other members of the House didn't see this as a stumbling block to his inauguration as they believed he would still have to complete his registration and also pay his dues. Hon. John Bosco (400L) who is representing Geography also made mention of the fact that not all honourables seated at the floor of the house had...

BE WARNED: WE DON’T HAVE MEN IN FATSSSA

Image
EDITORIAL Long ago, before this breed of demigods of impunity arrived our erstwhile ordered social enclave of high values and superior morality, we had a Fatsssa, or what used to be called FSSSA. Perhaps the change of name should be blamed for birthing this strange phase in Fatsssa. Unlike the glorious past where we had leaders, who though not necessarily perfect, had a highly efficient moral compass, what we have today in Fatsssa is a total sham. What we have now are men who can’t give their word and stand by it. Men who just make promises to assuage the masses for a short period of time. Men whose wisdom have become deceit. Unfortunately, these are the words that describe Fatsssa right now. We are tired of keeping mute, we are tired of bearing with the nonchalance that pervades us. It calls for great concern that fact that it seems this executive council is running away from accountability. For over Four weeks now, the President, Mr Jones Ogelekeme has promised to furnish us wi...

LET GO OF THE PAST

“Femi, get out of my sight, who do think you are? I know your type were the words that came out of the mouth of Moyosore a medical doctor in her early 30s”. Moyosore is a beautiful lady who grew up in a family of four. She attended Birrell primary school and had her secondary education in Rainbow college, one of the best schools in the heart of Lagos. Although she hailed from an average family, she was gifted intellectually and this made ways for her as she was granted a scholarship by the Lagos state scholarship board to study medicine and surgery in the prestigious university of Ibadan where she outshined most of her colleagues. Just like most teenagers who hailed from a disciplined family, she was warned by her parents about the demons in trousers (men according to them anyway) and their evil ways. As a result of this, she decided to abstain from anything called relationship. This she was able to achieve until her 4th year in the university. She met Michael, a graduate of Dent...

WHISTLE BLOWING POLICY; A MOCKERY OF THE FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION?

Image
By Lucky Racer In recent times, we have heard the songs of change sang by our leaders but we have been made to dance to the tunes of pain. While we keep hearing the sounds of change, the change our hearts desire has continued to elude us. While we strive to fight our greatest enemy, our leaders only make a mockery of the fight. As we continue to device one of the world's best practices in our fight against the menace that has eaten deep into our sub consciousness, our leaders have continued to show us that we cannot catchup with world's best practices. According to the Vanguard of 21st December, 2016; the minister of finance Mrs. Kemi Adeosun made known that the whistle blowing policy was aimed at consolidating the ongoing anti-corruption campaign embarked upon by the present administration, and that a bill will soon be passed to that effect. No doubt the whistle blowing policy is certainly a right step in the right direction as in recent times we have withnessed posit...

FATSSSAITES ENCOURAGED TO COME GET THEIR MONEY FOR SHIRTS BACK

The past couple of weeks have seen a couple of Fatsssaites who paid for shirt last year – but were never given – going to claim their refund. This comes after the refund was made to the Faculty account some months back by the producer of the shirt after he failed to produce the remaining number of shirts. While a considerable amount have claimed back their money, some others haven’t either due to lack of information or evidence of payment. Fatsssaites (who paid for shirts last year but weren’t given) are hereby advised to go to the Secretariat with evidence of payment to claim their money back as soon as possible. It should be however noted that as opposed to N2000 which was paid last year, Fatsssaites would be getting a N1900 refund as the producer has claimed that Emmanuel Adeyemo paid him N1900 for each shirt, though N2000 was collected from Fatsssaites.
