FATSSSA SET TO HOLD TOWN HALL MEETING

  Faith Ajewole  The Faculty of The Social Sciences Students' Association, University of Ibadan, is set to hold a Town Hall Meeting on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. This meeting is to take place at 5:00pm in the Faculty's Seminar Room. The notice was released by the Executive Council of the Faculty in a memo, circulated on Saturday, May 24, 2024. The program aims to bring together key stakeholders of the students’ association, including Principal officers, Departmental Executives, and Class Representatives from all levels and departments. Accordingly, the presence of these individuals are essential to ensure a well-rounded and inclusive conversation. For more information, students can reach out to the Faculty's Executive Council.

FATSSSA PRESS EDITORIAL BOARD MEETS WITH THE DEAN OF THE FACULTY

  Peace Nkenta The Editorial Board of the Faculty of The Social Sciences Press Organization met with the Dean of the Faculty, Prof Benjamin O. Ehigie on Wednesday, 21st of May 2025. The meeting which was to begin at 2:00pm was held in the Dean's office. The highlights of the meeting included; a formal introduction of members of the Editorial Board of the 2024/25 academic session to the Dean which is a tradition. A brief exposition about the Press arm to the Dean, its components and duties. In the course of interaction, a few issues were raised and the Dean recommended viable solutions to the Board members for the tackling of these concerns. Afterwards, the pressmen took pictures with the Dean which brought the meeting to a closure.

NELFUND HOLDS A QUESTION AND ANSWER SESSION TO ADDRESS STUDENTS’ CONCERNS IN UI

  Ageh Success Chidera The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) on Wednesday, 21st of May 2025 held a gathering at Trenchad Hall, University of Ibadan to give students the opportunity to interact with its officials, inorder to get more clarity on the initiative. This event was attended by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Professor Peter Olapegba who represented the Vice Chancellor, Director of Monitoring and Evaluation, Mr Aliu Mohammed, among others. Mrs Alao, the University of Ibadan NELFUND representative reported that 4,809 students had applied and been verified for this session. The Deputy Vice Chancellor in his remarks advised students to embrace the NELFUND initiative and take the loan with the thought of paying back to preserve it for future generations. THE MEMO ON SCHOOL FEES DEADLINE FOR 2024/2025 ACADEMIC SESSION

  Peace Nkenta An internal memorandum from the office of the Division of Senate, Admissions and Affiliated Institutions through the Senior Deputy Registrar (SAAI) to the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) released on Monday, 6th of May 2025 was circulated among the student community. In this memo, contained the Senate’s decision on the opening and closing of the portal for the 2024/2025 academic session, which was disclosed on Monday, 28th of April 2025 at the Senate’s regular meeting. The dates highlighted included; For the freshmen, 17th of February - 6th of June, for the returning students, 14th of April - 6th of June. Further stated in the memorandum was an increment of 20,000 naira for late registration which would happen between 9th of June - 27th of June. The Deputy Vice Chancellor therefore appealed to the Deans of various Faculties to encourage students to register in time and for indigent students to apply for NELFUND. UCJ UI HOLDS TRAINING FOR CAMPUS JOURNALISTS

  Peace Nkenta The Union of Campus Journalist, University of Ibadan held a training session for campus journalists on Tuesday, 20th of May 2025 in the Faculty of The Social Sciences. This training involved campus journalists from the Faculties of The Social Sciences, Economics and Law.  The facilitators at this workshop includes; John Eriomala (Erstwhile Editor-in-Chief of UIMSA Press), Ayeye Toluwalope (Editor-in-Chief of UCJ) and Olanshile Ogunrinu (President of UCJ). This training series which is meant to run from the 19th to the 31st of May 2025 is purposively aimed at equipping campus journalists in the University of Ibadan with skills for impactful journalism. The Press prayer led by the PRO II of UCJ, Victor Siyanbola kicked off the training session. Afterwards, the facilitators were invited to speak.
