Ado-Awaye Excursion Cancelled: Safety Concerns Lead to Disappointment

By Nnagboro Vivian

On the 13th of January 2024, the faculty executives announced that the excursion scheduled to be held on the 16th of January 2024 to Ado-Awaye to explore different sites has been cancelled. The sites included the Iyake suspended lake, Ese Awon Agba (Footprint of the Elders), Oke Ishage (Ishage Rock), The Elephant Tree, and Ese Kan Aiye Ese Kan Orun. Issues with concern about the security and safety of the students were the reasons stated for the cancellation of the excursion. The dean who had formerly given his approval for the excursion withdrew it over recent security concerns in the area.

In the press release released by the executives, they apologised for any inconvenience that may have been caused to those who paid for the excursion. They also assured that those who paid would be fully refunded as soon as the FHR approves of the refund, however, it is expected to commence in the coming week.
