FHR Meeting Stalled As Honourable Members Failed To Show Up.

The Faculty House of Representatives (FHR) was forced to suspend its scheduled meeting yesterday due to the low attendance of her Honorable members.

The meeting, originally slated to begin at 6:00 p.m., failed to commence as only few members showed up online far from the required quorum to initiate proceedings. Despite repeated efforts by the Speaker, who placed calls to absentees, the turnout remained disappointingly low.

For nearly an hour, the leadership tried to salvage the situation. But at exactly 6:50 p.m., the Speaker officially suspended the sitting, citing the failure to meet the constitutional requirement for a quorum.

As a consequence of not performing their duty, a fine of ₦2,000 was imposed on all principal officers and members who failed to attend the meeting.

Many have begun to question the commitment and seriousness of the FHR body, especially at a time when leadership should be driven by discipline and accountability. “Time consciousness is a sign of respect to the people we represent,” a fatsssaite commented. “If lawmakers can’t even show up, how can we trust them to lead?”

The next sitting, if any this semester will be closely watched not just by the members, but by the entire faculty community.

A follow up on the fine will be put into the consideration.
