UI Students' Union Gives New Update On The Approval Of Gas Usage In Halls As Installation Of Fire Extinguisher In Hostel Begins

The University of Ibadan Students Union (UI'SU) has announced fresh progress in the long awaited approval of gas usage in the institution's halls of residence, revealing that the installation of fire extinguishers, which is a necessary safety requirement before the approval process, has officially commenced.

In a statement issued on Thursday, July 23, and signed by the Students' Union President, Temidayo Adeboye, and the General Secretary, Joshua Shontan, the union acknowledged students growing anticipation over the issue and the inconvenience caused by the delay.

According to the statement, the institution's approval remains subject to the completion of mandatory safety measures designed and required to ensure that gas usage across the halls complies with established safety standards.

"The installation of fire extinguishers across the halls of residence has commenced,"  According to official statements, described the exercise as one of the vital conditions that must be fulfilled before the UI Management grants final approval for gas usage across hostels on campus grounds.

The SU maintained that it has remained in active engagement with relevant university authorities throughout the process, adding that it would continue to follow up until all outstanding requirements are completed and approval is granted.

While appealing for continued patience, the union expressed optimism that the ongoing installations represent significant progress towards the official authorization of gas usage in the halls of residence, and also, assured Ui student that further updates would be communicated as soon as the approval process is concluded.

The statement concluded by thanking the Ui student community for their understanding, patience, and continued cooperation.
