FATSSSA EXECUTIVE COUNCIL ADDRESSES FATSSSAITES ON THE RECENT LEGISLATIVE - EXECUTIVE DISPUTE.

The Executive Council of the Faculty of The Social Sciences Students’ Association released a memo to the general Fatsssa public addressing the recent Legislative - Executive dispute. This development occured today, Friday, 19th of June 2026.
In its address, the Executive Council extended its appreciation to Fatsssaites for their patience, understanding and commitment throughout the recent events that have tested the unity, peace and stability of the Association. It stated how an agreement of understanding has been established between both arms, where it communicated that based on this, the FHR would release an official memorandum retracting its previous declaratives on the Executive Council, of which the House did in the early hours of the day. The Executive Council reiterated its stance on its unwavering commitment to the welfare, progress and best interests of Fatsssa.
It further asserted that among all organs in the Faculty, the principles of mutual respect, cooperation and understanding would be established to enhance the effective functioning of the Association, highlighting that neither of them can successfully achieve their constitutional responsibilities without constructive engagement and respect for the roles of others.
Profound appreciation was extended to the Faculty management for their interventions, guidance and commitment as well as to the External Committee Affairs, UI SRC under the leadership of Rt. Hon John Oludele whose members played commendable roles as mediators throughout the reconciliation process. The Executive Council also commended the FHR for embracing dialogue and demonstrating a willingness to give significance to the unity, stability and collective interests of Fatsssa above all other considerations. It stated that in due time, a Congress would be summoned to address the state of the union and discuss other areas of businesses concerning the Association.
Finally, it made a call for every member of the Association to remain calm, united and focused as before on the shared vision of building a stronger, more progressive and more impactful community asserting that strength comes from the peace made and the unity maintained.
