Students' Union Addresses NELFUND Payment Errors Following Beneficiary Complaints

The Students’ Union has launched a review into the Loan Scheme following a surge of reports regarding payment discrepancies. A number of student beneficiaries have encountered significant obstacles when attempting to settle their school fees through the scheme’s funded wallets.

The primary concerns revolve around technical errors within the payment system, most experienced double deductions for Utility and Technology fees. In several instances, students reported that these erroneous charges left their wallet balances insufficient to cover their remaining bundle fees, effectively stalling their registration process. 

To resolve these anomalies, the Union is currently compiling verified records of all affected individuals. Students experiencing these financial glitches are required to submit accurate details of their challenges via a designated Google form. This data collection is intended to provide the necessary evidence for institutional authorities and NELFUND administrators to implement corrective measures.

The African Economic Scholars Program (AESP) is an initiative designed to build the next generation of African policymakers by exposing scholars to innovative tools and training.  The National Policy Challenge sought to identify the best policy strategies for the Nigerian Federation in two areas: Gender equity and Climate change. UI SUSPENDS TWO STUDENTS WITH SDC CASES, THIRD STUDENT'S CASE REMAINS UNRESOLVED

Peace Nkenta ‎On Monday, 14th of July, two students, Aduwo Ayodele, a final year student of the History Department, and Gbadegesin Olamide, a final year Master’s student at the Institute of African Studies, received a four-semester suspension. ‎This decision was taken during the Central Student Disciplinary Committee (SDC) sitting held earlier today involving the Vice Chancellor amongst other members of the University management. The reason for the suspension is that both students participated in the peaceful protest that took place during the Erstwhile Students’ Union President (Aweda Bolaji)'s administration. ‎Aduwo Ayodele confirmed this development.
