Renowned FATSSSA, UI Professor Remi Aiyede Appointed Chair of Nigerian Tribune Editorial Board

Emmanuel Remi Aiyede, a Professor in the Department of Political Science, has been appointed as the Chair of the Editorial Board of the Nigerian Tribune newspaper.
The news was announced via Professor Aiyede’s LinkedIn account, where, in a post made on Thursday, February 5, 2026, he wrote: “I am happy to announce my assumption of a new role as the Chair of the Editorial Board of Nigerian Tribune Newspaper, Nigeria’s longest surviving privately owned newspaper.”
Professor Aiyede has been a member of the Editorial Board of the Nigerian Tribune since 2008 and is a regular contributor to public discourse in the Nigerian media.
He formerly taught at the University of Lagos before joining the University of Ibadan in 2005, where he has served in various academic and administrative capacities.
His administrative roles include Head of the Department of Political Science, University of Ibadan (2020–2022), Sub-Dean, Faculty of the Social Sciences (2012–2014), and Coordinator of the Leadership and Governance Programme (2010–2014) at the Centre for Sustainable Development, University of Ibadan, among others.
Professor Aiyede is currently an Extraordinary Professor at the School of Public Management and Administration, Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences, University of Pretoria, South Africa.
