The University of Ibadan has announced a suspension of academic and administrative operations on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, as part of the nationwide observance mourning the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

The decision aligns with the Federal Government’s declaration of the day as a public holiday, following the passing of the former Nigerian leader on the 13th July. A memo issued by the university’s Registrar, confirmed that regular activities at the institution will resume on Wednesday, July 16.

While the campus will remain largely inactive during the holiday, staff engaged in essential services are expected to remain on duty to ensure continuity in critical operations.

The university’s action reflects its participation in the national reflection and honouring of a leader who once served both as a military ruler and as a democratically elected president.
