SECOND ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL SOCIAL SCIENCES CONFERENCE: SOCIAL SCIENCES IN A CHANGING WORLD: CHALLENGES, SOCIOECONOMIC ADAPTATION AND RESILIENCE

The Faculty of the Social Sciences, University of Ibadan, held day two of its highly anticipated annual conference on Tuesday at Trenchard Hall, beginning promptly at 10:29 AM. The event brought together top academics, administrators, and students to explore transformative ideas in the social sciences.
The conference opened with the recitation of the national and university anthems, followed by a formal welcome extended to the Vice Chancellor, Professor Kayode Adebowale, and other dignitaries.
In his welcome address, the Dean of the Faculty of the Social Sciences, Professor B.O Ehigie noted that the conference had already recorded 415 registered participants as of the previous day representing a 10 percent increase from last year.
The Vice Chancellor, in his address, commended the Faculty for selecting a timely and thoughtful theme. He urged participants to "think beyond the box," challenge outdated models, and leverage social science as a tool for global impact. “This conference must serve as a bedrock for seeking sustainable solutions,” He said.
Heads of departments from the Faculty were welcomed to the high table, alongside deans from other faculties including Science, Law, Basic Clinical Sciences, and Veterinary Medicine, who were also recognized.
A series of presentations followed. The Vice Chancellor, DeputyVice Chancellor (Administration), and the Registrar of the University were honored for their presence. Awards were also presented by the vice Chancellor to the Keynote Speaker, Professor Adebayo Olukoshi, Professor Anthonia received a presentation from the VC (Administration), while Professor Oluyemi Bambose honored Professor Sylvester. Former Dean, Professor Wokocha presented an award to Dr. Kingsley of Delta State, who was represented by Professor Adebimpe Adenugba
A group photograph was taken with principal officers. The event also featured a citation in honor of the keynote speaker, Professor Olukoshi.
A 20 minutes tea break was given.
Professor Antonia Simbine D.G, Niser. was welcomed, she spoke on understanding the changing world.
The mid paper presenter 2, Prof S.O Akhaine a professor of political science in Lagos State University was invited and he spoke on challenges of social sciences research in a changing world
Several dignitaries were called upon to give their vote of thanks, the President of Nigeria political science association professor Hassan, the representative of the president of Nigerian psychological association and the incoming head of department of geography was called on to give a closing vote of thanks.
The national anthem and the school anthem were recited to commemorate the end of the program which was to be continued at the faculty of the social sciences.
