Council of Hall Chairpersons' proposal for an Increment in Hall Dues.

The COHC on the 30th of March 2025 wrote to the UI-SRC proposing an increment in Basic Dues across Halls of Residence from N3000 to N5000. The Hall Chairpersons asserted that the reason for the proposition of an increment was as a result of the insufficiency of the current fee to meet essential expenses such as security, sanitation, infrastructure, hall services which have gained rising costs overtime and inadequately made it impossible to meet the general welfare of the student populace.

According to the notification released and signed by the President of the COHC, Anifowose Nofisat and the General Secretary, Adenekan Adeifeoluwa. The COHC aims to engage the SRC and explain their rationale as well as highlight reasons why their proposal should be agreed to.

However, this proposal is emerging at a period where it's uncalled for as many students who face harsh living conditions caused by the ongoing economic hardships may be unable to pay this due if hiked. Also, an eventual hike on the Basic Dues would negate the efforts of the student community in their fight against fee hike preceded by the present economic conditions.
