PROFESSOR ADEBAYO OKUNADE HONORED AT THE VALEDICTORY LECTURE AS HE RETIRES AT 70 .

On Wednesday, 12th March 2025, The Department of Political Science, Faculty of the Social Sciences, held a memorable Valedictory Program and 70th Birthday Lecture in honor of Professor Adebayo Okunade, marking his retirement from active academic service and celebrating his 70th birthday.
The event which was held at the Large Lecture Theater, Faculty of the Social Sciences was attended by academicians, policymakers, students and colleagues who gathered to recognize the immense contributions of Professor Okunade to political science education in the university of Ibadan.
The highlight of the event was a keynote lecture delivered by Prof. Tunji Olaopa, Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission. He gave a speech on the theme "Is Leadership Sufficient to Deliver National Transformation in Nigeria?". Who gave an in-depth lecture on the concept of Leadership and as well commend Professor OKUNADE.
The event featured a panel of distinguished discussants, Prof. Emmanuel Onje (political science UI), Prof. O. S. Afolabi (Political Science, OAU), Comrade Azeem Salako(Research Fellow, NIALS, Lagos) .
Also present were several important personalities, including: Prof. Adeolu Akande, former Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission, Engr. Wole Agbaje, CEO of Sceptre Consulting Ltd, Prof. D. A. Yagboyaju, Head of the Department of Political Science(UI), Prof. Benjamin Ehighe, Dean, Faculty of the Social Sciences, UI.
Awards and gifts were presented to professor Okunade recognizing his contribution to the university of Ibadan as a whole.
The event came to an end with professor Adebayo OKUNADE giving a farewell speech.
