FATSSSA PRESS HANDOVER CEREMONY

   The Press arm of the Faculty of The Social Sciences held its handover ceremony on Thursday, 27th of February 2025 at the Faculty's Small Lecture Theatre.

   The ceremony which kick-started at 9:45 a.m began with the renditions of the Nation's and University's anthems.

   The opening remark was given by Miss Anuoluwapo, the outgoing General Secretary. She started with appreciating the presence of every pressman and went on to speak on the accomplishments of the Faculty's Press body as well as the variety of challenges it encountered.

   Afterwards, a speech was delivered by the outgoing Editor-in-Chief - Mr Emmanuel Akinwale. He expounded on the remarks given by the General Secretary, highlighting on the various feats achieved by the Press body in the current session which included; a constitutional amendment, an Inaugural essay competition at the faculty level and the creation of internship opportunities for pressmen. All of which had been challenging and tasking but in the end achievable. He further emphasized on ‘self belief’ as an important key to achieving success and spoke on the need for unity and solidarity within the organization as well as the need for the availability of smart goals. He ended his speech by noting that challenges are inevitable but however they can be overcome with the right drive and attitude.

   The ceremony continued with a representative from each departmental local press organization speaking on how their affiliation with the Press had impacted them as well as their contributions to the organization. Then executives of each local press organizations were called upon to give a report on their activities so far in the concluding session.

   The newly appointed editorial board members of each local press organizations were recognized. They were called out to take the oath and congratulated by the outgoing Editor-in-Chief.

   The newly appointed editorial board members of the Faculty's Press Organization are;

Victoria Adeusi - Editor-in-Chief

Janet Ebiniyi - Deputy Editor-in-Chief

Alice Ogar - General Secretary

Islamiyyah Olatunbosun - Online Editor

  Pressmen were afterwards presented with certificates of excellence to award their service to the organization.

  The closing remark was then given by the newly appointed Deputy Editor-in-Chief, Miss Janet Ebiniyi and the ceremony came to an end at some minutes after 11a.m.
