On January 21, 2025, the University of Ibadan Students Union issued a memorandum highlighting the necessity for students to participate in the 80-day protest concerning power outages in Alexander Brown Hall and Ayodele Falase Hall. The peaceful demonstration is set to take place on January 22, 2025, at 7:00 a.m.

In the memorandum issued, the meeting point for the march is at the UCH main gate and the march shall proceed to the secretariat.

The student's primary requests include the swift reinstatement of electricity to the university college hospital and other hospitals facing power outages throughout Nigeria, prompt action on the federal government’s pledge for a 50% power subsidy for healthcare facilities and higher education institutions, and the overhaul of the healthcare system to ensure quality healthcare services.

Because of the extended interruption in power restoration at UCH, the students view this as a method to highlight the issue to the relevant authority in hopes of finding a resolution.
