Academic Excellence: Bamimore Sogo shines as Best Graduating Student in the Social Sciences Faculty

Bamimore Sogo  has been announced as the Best Graduating Student in the department of Political Science and simultaneously, the Best Graduating Student in the Faculty of the Social Sciences with a CGPA of 3.8/4.0 at the 76th Convocation Ceremony of the University of Ibadan, which commenced on the 13th November, 2024, at the International Conference Center, UI.  

 

Bamimore Sogo is a student of the department of political Science who gained admission into the University of Ibadan in 2018 and has finally completed his degree program as a first class graduate earning himself a B.Sc in Political Science .  

 

This Best Graduating Student also bagged other awards  such as : 

-Opualabo Tiriah and Princesss Pbialiaba Sai Prize in Political Science to the Best Bachelor Degree Student in the Department of Political Science. 

 

-Onosode Student Leadership (OSL) Prize for the student of the Faculty of the Social Sciences in Community and Human Development within the University. 

 

-Professor Eno L. Inanga prize For the best-graduating student with a B.Sc First Class Honours Degree in the Faculty of the Social Sciences. 

 

-Late Professor Emeritus Micheal Olanrewaju Filani Prize for the Best Graduating Student in the Faculty of the Social Sciences 

 

Some of the other prizes received by him as the best graduating student with B.Sc First Class Honours Degree in the Faculty of the Social Sciences include ; De-United Indomie Scholarship Awards, The NUPEMCO Prize, Dr. Liman Ciroma Prize, among others.  

 

In an Interview with Sogo, he stated that it feels great being the best-graduating student but also overwhelming due to the pressure of people’s expectations concerning his life after school and this latest feat.  


When asked how his parents feel about his achievements, he said that they are very happy. In his words, “I am the third child, my two older brothers went to Polytechnics and I’m actually the first to attend a University and it’s ending great” 

 

He further urged other students to not give up, “…In 100 level, I was having 25, 26 in my tests but I made sure I aced my exams”…“Find another strategy, but don’t stop”, he advised.

Fellow Valedictorians announced at the event are Emmanuela Dike in the Faculty of Dentistry, Babatunde Oluwagbemiga (Linguistics) in the Faculty of Art, Oyekan Usman (Physics) in the Faculty of Science, Jumah Neemot Adebisi (Physiology) in the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, Aduroja Victoria in the Faculty of Law, Adepoju Adebola and Gbadamosi Fatimah in the Faculty of Public Health, Abdganiyu Lateefat (Economics) in the Faculty of Economics and Management Science, Oladiran Christianah in the Faculty of Agriculture, Ogbore Damilola in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Adeyeye Adesanya and Egunjobi Oluwapelumi in the Faculty of Technology, and Sonibare Oluwadamilola in the Faculty of Pharmacy, as reported by the UCJ.

THE FATSSSA WEEK EVENTS THROUGH THE EYES OF A NERDY FATSSSAITE

However, there had been loud hiccups with the crispy picnic, so many might have been hesitant to show up at the FATSSSA Week events. In preparation for the opening day of the events, the Large Lecture Theatre had been decorated. A large purple banner bearing the name of the faculty, with beautiful splashes of white and orange, was glued to the wall. The week started with an incredible intellectual programme - ‘Dean For  A Day’ and ‘FATSSSAites who inspire us’.
