The University of Ibadan has since the 19th of October, 2024, suffered an erratic power supply. The reason behind this low supply of power at first remained unclear as most students attributed it to the fall of the National electrical power grid.
Recall, that the national power grid collapsed on the 19th of October, 2024.
However, despite the restoration of the national power grid, power was not restored on campus, thus piquing the curiosity of several students. Despite this, through a memo signed and released by the UISU, on October 21st, the issue behind the lack of power supply on campus was reported to have been caused by a fault in the underground cable.
Through due diligence, the FATSSSA Press correspondent reached out to the dean of Students, Prof Keye Abiona to enquire about the update on the situation. In his reply, the Dean of Students stated that it is anticipated that the IBEDC will be in UI today to resolve the fault and that hopefully, power will be restored on campus effectively today.
