The fast approaching deadline in UI for the payment of School fees has led the Faculty of the Social Sciences Students Association issue out a release on the 16th of September seeking the support of the public on behalf of the students in the Faculty who have been unable to pay their school fees

This publication and other similar mediums of soliciting for funds from the public has been circulating in the University of Ibadan following the declaration made by UI management on the 30th of august whereby all student were mandated to pay their school fees by Friday, 21st of this month.

In the information publicized by FATSSSA, the Association is urging the public to “support an indigent student today and help a FATSSAITE continue her education”. The publication also stated that all donations into the Association’s account should include the narration ‘Bursary’

This muddled situation, in which some FATSSSAites have found themselves, prompting the Association to seek public monetary assistance, is a result of the school fees hike imposed by the Institution's management.

The appeals and protests made by the students against this increase in fees earned them a sudden three-week break by the School management, instructing that academic activities should be halted and hostels shut. Furthermore, students have been mandated to pay their school fees and do course registrations by  21st of September 2024  in order to participate in the semester examinations.
