FACULTY OF THE SOCIAL SCIENCES SET TO APPOINT NEW DEAN, SUB-DEAN (Undergraduate)

The outgoing Sub-Dean for undergraduate studies, Dr. Femi Olaniyan, announced on the 25th of July, during the Dean's Roll of Honour that he would be handing over his responsibilities to Dr. Funke Adegoke of the Department of Sociology on August 1, 2024. This announcement has garnered significant interest from the students of the FATSSSA community, who are eagerly anticipating the leadership transition.

As Thursday, August 1 approaches, changes are expected in the offices of both the Dean and the Sub-Dean (Undergraduate) of the Faculty. These changes are a result of the completion of the two-year tenures of the current office holders. Other faculty officers are expected to retain their positions.

The anticipated changes include:

  • Dean of the Faculty: Professor B.O. Ehigie is expected to officially assume the office of the Dean on August 1.

  • Sub-Dean (Undergraduate): Dr. Funke Adegoke is expected to officially assume her role as the Sub-Dean (Undergraduate) on the same day.

In addition to these changes, new Heads of Departments (HODs) will be appointed for the Departments of Political Science and Sociology:

  • Department of Political Science: Professor D.A. Yagboyaju is expected to assume the role of HOD on August 1.

  • Department of Sociology: Professor Adebimpe Adenugba is anticipated to take up the role of HOD on August 1.

However, the HODs for the Department of Psychology would remain unchanged as they have spent a year in office.

  By Emmanuel Akinwale The Faculty of the Social Sciences has today, 8th October released a memorandum announcing the suspension of all academic and administrative activities within the f aculty , following the untimely passing of Professor Ifeanyi Onyeonoru , a respected lecturer in the Department of Sociology and Head of the Employment Relations and Human Resource Management Unit.   The devastating news confirmed by FATSSSA Press correspondent stated that Professor Ifeanyi Onyeonoru passed away in the early hours of October 7, 2024, at Jaja Clinic during a brief illnes. The esteemable Professor is said to have contributed significantly to the academic repository of the Faculty and most importantly, his Department with his repertoire of knowledge. THE FATSSSA WEEK EVENTS THROUGH THE EYES OF A NERDY FATSSSAITE

However, there had been loud hiccups with the crispy picnic, so many might have been hesitant to show up at the FATSSSA Week events. In preparation for the opening day of the events, the Large Lecture Theatre had been decorated. A large purple banner bearing the name of the faculty, with beautiful splashes of white and orange, was glued to the wall. The week started with an incredible intellectual programme - ‘Dean For  A Day’ and ‘FATSSSAites who inspire us’. I was determined to attend the programme as it was a new trend and I was curious to see how it would turn out. My mouth went agape as I saw FATSSSAites rush to the event.
