FACULTY OF THE SOCIAL SCIENCES SET TO HOLD FRESHERS’ ORIENTATION-DEAN'S ROLL OF HONOUR AWARD

By Olatoye Temiloluwa

As in previous sessions, the Faculty of the Social Sciences has scheduled this session’s Freshers Orientation and the Dean’s Roll of Honour, a 2-in-1 event, to be held at 10 am on the 17th of July at the Large Lecture Theatre of the Faculty. The event aims to recognize noteworthy students and welcome new students.

The Dean’s Roll of Honour is an event to celebrate students who have demonstrated outstanding academic performance by achieving a first-class grade. At the University of Ibadan, the first-class grade range is a CGPA between 3.5 and 4.0. During the event, all first-class students in 200-level (100-level for the previous academic session), 300-level (200-level for the previous academic session), and 400-level (300-level for the previous academic session) from the four departments within the Faculty of the Social Sciences will be honoured with a certificate signed by the Dean.

The Freshers Orientation is a co-program organized to acknowledge and welcome new students into the Faculty. It involves distinguished personnel formally addressing and giving motivational speeches to the fresh students.

Combining the Dean’s Roll of Honour and the Freshers Orientation into a single event aims to celebrate the First-Class students and inspire all students, particularly the new entrants.
