By Glorious Olajire
Glorious Olajire: Good afternoon. How was your day today. Can you introduce yourself?
Samuel Koleosho: Good afternoon, I am Samuel Opeoluwa KOLEOSHO popular known as Sammy. I'm a 300l student of department of psychology and I'm contesting the post of FATSSSA President
Glorious Olajire: Thank you. Why the post of president?
Samuel Koleosho: I am contesting for the post of president because I believe I have what it takes to lead this great association to the next level of excellence that is required. also, I am a very good team lead and i want to work in collaboration with other executive members to impact the lives of FATSSSAites positively.
Glorious Olajire: What experiences do you have that cemented your belief, that you 'have what it takes to lead'
Samuel Koleosho: Well, I've been the class rep of my class right from 100l days and I've also represented their interest in the FHR for 2 sessions. During this period, I’ve been able to manage my class effectively while working with other people like other students and even lecturers. So I know I have the required experience to lead
Glorious Olajire: Are those the entire length of your leadership experiences?
Samuel Koleosho: No, I have a handful outside the university community.
Glorious Olajire: Please share them
Samuel Koleosho: Alright, I am a member of an organization (boys brigade) that requires me to lead boys and even youth in different programs like camps, social outings and also mentoring them becoming the best version of themselves. Also, I am an exco in my church youth department.
Glorious Olajire: In your opinion, what is the next level for FATSSSA?
Samuel Koleosho: Empowering FATSSSAites with necessary skills and preparing them for the nearest future..... Life after school basically while maintaining that the culture of excellence with activities organized within the association.
Glorious Olajire: Previous executives have done this, to a significant extent. What is different with you?
Samuel Koleosho: Well, they might have done it.yes, but there are areas they didn't touch while at it. It is those identified areas I'm coming to address.
Glorious Olajire: Ummm. Can you be more specific?
Samuel Koleosho: One of the identified areas that need to be addressed is making the graduates very much employable. Not just by helping them with their academics, but creating platforms for them to learn basic skills that will strategically place them on top of the list when they are seeking employment. One of it being good and proper writing skills.
Glorious Olajire: So, I'll be correct in surmising that your reference to 'the culture of excellence', is beyond academics.
Samuel Koleosho: Exactly
Samuel Koleosho: I have an encompassing plan, such that whoever wishes to Excel outside just academics is given the platform for that
Glorious Olajire: What are your plans for integrating FATSSSA, with other social science faculties across Nigeria? (Apart from sports)
Samuel Koleosho: I know of the fact that we have a National body of social sciences, I'm not specifically sure if we'd be associating with them. Because, over the years of me being in this school, there has not been any collaborations with the national body. However, there are chapters that I've identified to be of like minds with the University mission and vision, the likes of OAU, UNILAG and some other private schools. We might be having the opportunity to have programs with them if there are needs for it. And also to exchange experiences.
Glorious Olajire: We were encouraged to attend the social sciences conference organised by the body during Kingsley's administration. That's good to hear. Do you have any bills, you hope to bring to the FHR if elected?
Samuel Koleosho: Yea, trueee. That's the kind of opportunity I mentioned and it's going to be streamlined to chapters that have been identified to be of great reputation. None for now [bills].
Glorious Olajire:: What does the Edge Agenda mean?
Samuel Koleosho: Empowering Dreams through Growth and Excellence
Glorious Olajire: Noted. Do you have commitments beyond your degree in Psychology at the University of Ibadan
Samuel Koleosho: If I get this right, are you trying to know if I have other things I'm into aside my degree here??
Glorious Olajire: You're in line. Is there anything that would interfere with you giving your all to FATSSSA?
Samuel Koleosho: If yes, I have a fashion brand that I run.
Glorious Olajire: You can share your commitments and how you plan to balance those responsibilities
Samuel Koleosho: However, it has never interfered with any of my commitments right from my first day in this school because i actually started it before even resuming and ever since then, I've been juggling it with my academics, my duties as the class rep and even as an honorable member when i was in the house.
Glorious Olajire:: If a FATSSSAite were in front of you right now, what would you say to him/her?
Samuel Koleosho: Vote Sammy for FATSSSA President because he's not just representing himself as a candidate, he is going to represent the collective aspirations for a better FATSSSA.
Glorious Olajire: If elected, what would you want your administration to be known for?
Samuel Koleosho: All round growth and excellence
Glorious Olajire: Thank you for taking the time.
Samuel Koleosho: Thank you for having me.
