Former Pressman Emerges FATSSSA's 61st PRO

The Faculty of the Social Sciences Students' Association House of Representatives, on Friday, inaugurated the new Public Relations Officer for the Association.

 Miss Zainab Zakariyyah, a 300 level student of the Department of Geography, was on Friday, inaugurated as the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Faculty of The Social Sciences Students' Association (FATSSSA).

 Recall that the only aspirant for the post of PRO in the last elections, Mr. Olumide Omotayo, withdrew his candidacy at the last minute necessitating the conduction of a bye-election this semester.

 Miss Zakariyyah, who ran for the post after resigning from FATSSSA Press says she has always had a passion for publicity and she wants to take FATSSSA to the next level.

 I joined the press at 100 level because I wanted to improve my writing and speaking skills, and learn better ways to interact with people." she shared, "I've achieved that and now I want something more challenging. Seeing as I've always loved publicity, the post of PRO was the perfect platform."

 Miss Zakarriyah continued by saying she plans to introduce a number of things while she's in office, including vox pop and interviews. She also hopes to work towards making the FATSSSA social media channels more active and getting followers from outside the faculty.

 On how she felt about the fact that she ran unopposed, she said: "At first it felt good, there was no pressure. However, now, after winning, I feel a bit like the post was just handed to me".

 Miss Zakarriyah is looking forward to her tenure and urges FATSSSAites to look out.

 "Something big is coming," she said.

THE FATSSSA WEEK EVENTS THROUGH THE EYES OF A NERDY FATSSSAITE

However, there had been loud hiccups with the crispy picnic, so many might have been hesitant to show up at the FATSSSA Week events. In preparation for the opening day of the events, the Large Lecture Theatre had been decorated. A large purple banner bearing the name of the faculty, with beautiful splashes of white and orange, was glued to the wall. The week started with an incredible intellectual programme - ‘Dean For  A Day’ and ‘FATSSSAites who inspire us’. I was determined to attend the programme as it was a new trend and I was curious to see how it would turn out. My mouth went agape as I saw FATSSSAites rush to the event.
