Tips On Maintaining Healthy Skin While Living On Campus

College life can be busy and sometimes, self-care can take a back seat.

However, maintaining healthy skin while on campus is crucial for not only your physical health but also your mental well-being.

Students have been complaining that using hostel water to bathe is damaging to their skin. So, here are some tips to help you maintain healthy skin while dealing with bad hostel water.

Use a water filter: Invest in a water filter to remove impurities and contaminants from the hostel water before using it to wash your face or take a shower.

Avoid hot water: Hot water can strip your skin of its natural oils, leading to dryness and irritation. Use lukewarm water instead to cleanse your face and body.

Use gentle products: Choose gentle, non-comedogenic skincare products that won't clog your pores and cause breakouts. Look for products that are formulated for sensitive skin.

Moisturize regularly: Moisturize your skin immediately after cleansing to lock in moisture and prevent dryness. Use a lightweight, non-greasy moisturizer that won't clog your pores.

Don't over-wash: Over-washing your face and body can strip your skin of its natural oils, leading to dryness and irritation. Stick to washing your face and body twice a day, in the morning and before bed.

Avoid sharing personal care items: Sharing personal care items such as towels, washcloths, and razors can transfer bacteria and germs, leading to skin infections and breakouts.

Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated from the inside out. If the hostel water is not suitable for drinking, consider investing in a water filtration system or buying bottled water.

By following these tips, you can maintain healthy skin while dealing with bad hostel water. If you are experiencing severe skin issues, consider consulting a dermatologist for professional advice.
