 In this series of Interviews, FATSSSA Press deemed it worthy for  her audience-FATSSSAites to have an early meet-up with the various aspirants for the Executive Offices in the Upcoming Elections.

Its basically a collection of their basic profiles, each one of them; their core motivations and their general idea about the Association's leadership.

The proper quizzing and test of manifestoes comes up on the 20th of October as from 3pm, at the SLT.

       INTERVIEW SESSION WITH MR OKUNOLA GBEKELOLUWA

  (AN ASPIRANT FOR THE POSITION OF THE ASSISTANT GENERAL SECRETARY)

PRESS CORRESPONDENT: Good evening, I am Fiyin Falade from FATSSSA press. We would like to have your basic profile and ask basic questions about your heralded political aspiration in the upcoming FATSSSA Executive Elections.

MR GBEKELOLUWA: Good evening Fiyin.

PRESS CORRESPONDENT: Please introduce yourself in full

MR GBEKELOLUWA: My name is Okunola Gbekeloluwa Chinedum, an 100level student of the Faculty of the Social sciences, Sociology department to be precise.

PRESS CORRESPONDENT: Describe yourself to us, your person, basic beliefs in life, source of motivation etc.

MR GBEKELOLUWA: In simple terms I am a very composed and outspoken person, very very friendly but at the same time serious.

My beliefs are quite simple, I believe in family, unity, loyalty, creativity, freedom and most importantly I so much belief in humility.

I draw my motivation from a lot of things; life stories and even music (victor AD) happens to be my favorite Nigerian artist.

PRESS CORRESPONDENT: Why exactly are you interested in running for this office

MR GBEKELOLUWA: My reason for running for the post of FATSSSA Assistant General Secretary serve FATSSSAites in the best possible way I can.

PRESS CORRESPONDENT: What is one unique thing you will contribute to the office if you emerge.

MR GBEKELOLUWA: In accordance with the FATSSSA constitution article 8 sub- section 4 which states that the Assistant General Secretary is the chairman of the Sanitary committee, I hope to bring about generally clean Faculty and possibly add to the aesthetic of the faculty environment if I eventually emerge as the winner.

PRESS CORRESPONDENT: What is the central theme of your manifesto.

MR GBEKELOLUWA: The central theme of my manifesto remains Allegiance that is loyalty to the Association most especially the office of the general secretary and FATSSSAites in general.

So, regarding the picnic controversies,  how much was budgeted and eventually spent? MR ASHCROFT: A budget of #398,000 was approved. FATSSSA PRESS: (points to the hard copy of the budget) This, right? MR ASHCROFT: Yes FATSSSA PRESS: So, 398,000 was approved by the house. Some items include small chops, four puff puffs per person, one samosa, one spring roll, and you planned for how many people? MR ASHCROFT: 400 people.   FATSSSA PRESS: For the small chops, everything was priced at 100,000. The peppered ponmo was budgeted at #60,000, punch for also #60,000, DJ for #70,000, and several others, all amounting to #398,000. So how much was eventually spent? MR ASHCROFT: #362,000 was eventually spent.   FATSSSA PRESS: So #398,000 was, indeed, budgeted for 400 people but #362,000 was spent

THE FATSSSA WEEK EVENTS THROUGH THE EYES OF A NERDY FATSSSAITE

However, there had been loud hiccups with the crispy picnic, so many might have been hesitant to show up at the FATSSSA Week events. In preparation for the opening day of the events, the Large Lecture Theatre had been decorated. A large purple banner bearing the name of the faculty, with beautiful splashes of white and orange, was glued to the wall. The week started with an incredible intellectual programme - ‘Dean For  A Day’ and ‘FATSSSAites who inspire us’. I was determined to attend the programme as it was a new trend and I was curious to see how it would turn out. My mouth went agape as I saw FATSSSAites rush to the event. BREAKING: FACULTY OF THE SOCIAL SCIENCES MOURNS LECTURER, SUSPENDS ALL ACTIVITIES FOR THE WEEK

  By Emmanuel Akinwale The Faculty of the Social Sciences has today, 8th October released a memorandum announcing the suspension of all academic and administrative activities within the f aculty , following the untimely passing of Professor Ifeanyi Onyeonoru , a respected lecturer in the Department of Sociology and Head of the Employment Relations and Human Resource Management Unit.   The devastating news confirmed by FATSSSA Press correspondent stated that Professor Ifeanyi Onyeonoru passed away in the early hours of October 7, 2024, at Jaja Clinic during a brief illnes. The esteemable Professor is said to have contributed significantly to the academic repository of the Faculty and most importantly, his Department with his repertoire of knowledge.
