SEAL football competition to start mid-July
By Kayode Oyeniran
With the draws done already, one of the exciting and intriguing football competitions in the University of Ibadan—SEAL is set to start on the 15th of July.
It would be recalled that SEAL was originally an idea of a few students of the Faculty of the Social Sciences in 2017 to bring to together students of various departments and faculties who took courses from the Faculty of the Social Sciences to further interact beyond the four walls of the class. This session’s edition marks the third successive edition hosted by these students.
While deliberating on some of the modalities to be used in the game before the draws were done, it was agreed by various sports secretaries/directors and their representatives across 17 departments that Distance Learning and Maters students will not be allowed to participate in the competition. It was also agreed that only 17 players and a coach will be registered and 30 minutes will be allocated for each half of every match.
The name of the football competition was gotten from the first letters of four faculties—Social Science, Education Arts and Law. The first edition of the competition was won by the Faculty of Law and the second by the Department of Sociology.
