The FATSSSA House of Representatives (FHR) has approved the nomination of Miss Omotolani Ademolue as the Assistant General Secretary (AGS) of the Faculty of the Social Sciences Students’ Association (FATSSSA) in its first sitting. The approval came after she met the required 2/3 of members of the house.

Ademolue who is a 200 level student of the department of Political Science was nominated by the President of the association, Mr. John Adeleke to occupy the vacant office of the AGS in accordance with Article 11, Section V, Subsection ii of the FATSSSA constitution which provides thus:

“…The President shall nominate persons into empty executive seat(s) and shall be approved by 2/3 member of the FHR sitting.”

While speaking to the house on why Miss Omotolani Ademolue was nominated for the position of the AGS even after she once stepped down her aspiration in the build up to the faculty elections, the President and his General Secretary noted that her “commendable interest, her possession of leadership traits and learning spirit and skill sets” were considered to be instrumental for success in that office and the vision of the administration. These, they noted stood her out of all the other individuals who showed interest in the position.

In her reaction to ‘why she stepped down her aspiration to contest in the last faculty election?’ She noted that it was due to ‘personal issues’ she had to deal with at the time. It would be recalled that the office of the AGS has been vacant since the end of the previous administration. This was due to the disqualification of the only aspirant, Mr. Shakespeare during the last electioneering process.

Meanwhile, the FHR in the same sitting ratified the sum of #18,200 as incurred expenses of the executive council. The incurred expenses which encapsulates all incurred expenses of the executive council since its inauguration on April 29, 2019 cover the following items: Letter Head Design, #2,000; FATSSSA dues receipt booklets, #10,000; Printing of Proposals and Letters, #2,000; Envelope (1 White Pack), #200 and Running Cost for Transportation and Calls, #4,000 all amounting to #18,200.
In another development, the house inaugurated Mr. Mayowa Moses Adejumo as an honourable. Adejumo who got to the house through a landslide victory in a closed ballot election conducted in his constituency was sworn in by the house to represent 100 Level Political Science constituency.
