Finalist of the week
FINALIST OF THE WEEK
“I like kitchen, I think I got that from my mum.”- Edwin Peculiar.
TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF
Okay, my name is Edwin Peculiar Ngozi Adaeze. I’m the first child and first girl in a family of five. I’m a student of course, in political science, 400 level. I am fun loving, love God and also a student (food) entrepreneur.
WOW, WHAT DO YOU COOK?
I do local soups and it was born out of a passion for culture and not to let our highly nutritious delicacies fade away. We hear so many cases of cancer this, cancer that and I’ve been wanting to solve that problem .So I thought- why don’t I come up with a mobile soup kitchen? I work with two other people.
WHAT IS YOUR FOOD VENTURE CALLED?
G's G foods
HOBBIES?
I like kitchen, I think I got that from my mum.
DO YOU SEE YOURSELF CONTINUING WITH YOUR FOOD BUSINESS AFTER SCHOOL?
Well, yes. Firstly, I think I have something for finance, investment banking and small medium enterprises. I am currently part of the founding board and head of strategies and planning for F and K savings. It’s a saving platform that helps students to inculcate good saving habits, investment and financial literacy.
WITH ALL YOU’VE SAID, ONE WOULD THINK YOU’D HAVE GONE FOR ECONOMICS.SO WHY POLITICAL SCIENCE?
I actually wanted to read law (especially because of my dad) but when I didn’t get the cut off for law, political science was the next best thing and I think am enjoying it. After 100 level, I decided not to cross. Looking at it, I’ve learnt a lot from political science as a whole and its sub parts. I’ve also learnt to use the concept of politics to drive my passion. So being into politics is an advantage for me.
SINCE YOU’RE INTO FOOD, WHATS YOUR FAVOURITE FOOD?
Omg, do I have one? People always think because I make food I am a foodie but for me, it’s more of seeing others eat healthy; but I’d go with yam and egg sauce.
FAVOURITE COLOUR?
Red
WHEN IS YOUR BIRTHDAY?
May 15
WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR OTHER FATSSSAITES?
Okay. For the freshers- they should not be so much about school, school, school. They should learn entrepreneurial skills as well. Diversify, don’t put all your eggs in one basket. This also goes to 200 and 300 level students. For 400 level students, we’re almost out of UI .I'd like for them to plan for the next phase of their life, service year. Don’t expect a job to be waiting for you. Stay focused, know what you want in life and go after it.
