FHR postpones budget approval as Fatsssa statement of account remains unclear
Lucky Racer, UI
The
Fatsssa house of representatives has in its last sitting that held on Wednesday
postponed the approval of the executive council budget until its next sitting. This postponement
was reached by the house upon the inability of members of the executive
council to present the current and coherent statement of Fatsssa account.
The
postponement was due to the adoption of a motion moved by an Honourable member
of the house, Hon. Simon Bullem representing 300level, Psychology constituency.
The house while trying to approve the budgets presented before it by members of
the executive council including the President, the General Secretary and the
Sport Secretary adopted the motion to postpone the approval of the budgets in
order to give the executive council time to come up with a consistent account
statement
While
trying to explain the irregularity, the President, Mr. Faith Ayomide Omitoyin
who stood in for the absent Financial Secretary was unable to present the
current and coherent statement of Fatsssa account. Mr. Faith noted that a
booklet numbering 801-850 of the Fatsssa receipts was not used in the course of
collecting dues as it was mistakenly skipped. He was however unable to draw
coherence between the used receipts and the statement of account he presented. The
house has however informed the President to work on getting the current statement
of account that reflects the number of receipts issued before the next sitting
schedule to hold on Saturday 15th September, 2018.
