STEEZE ON SHORTS: A SOIREE IN THE FACULTY OF THE SOCIAL SCIENCES

On August 24th, 2024, students from the Political Science, Electrical Engineering, and Psychology departments came together to demonstrate that, despite their diverse academic backgrounds, they could unite in the spirit of fun and relaxation. The highly anticipated STEEZE ON SHORT (SOS) event kicked off at 5:30 pm, a collaborative effort between these departments, which delivered on its promise of an unforgettable night. The venue buzzed with energy as the DJ spun top-notch tracks that kept the crowd moving in sync. 

Dressed in their stylish shorts, attendees savored cocktails, small chops, and barbecues while mingling and enjoying the vibrant atmosphere. The games segment emerged as a highlight, with participants eagerly divided into Team Steeze and Team Composure, everyone anticipating the exciting activities lined up for the night. 

The first round, “Pick the Cup,” saw Team Composure clinch victory, winning two out of three challenges. Their triumph was rewarded with a monetary prize, setting a competitive tone for the rest of the games. 

The second round, “Karaoke – Do You Know the Lyrics,” ended in a tie, leading to an exhilarating tiebreaker called “Throwback to Childhood.” Team Steeze dominated this round, impressing the crowd with their knowledge of primary school songs and earning enthusiastic cheers. The open space buzzed with infectious energy as everyone sang along and danced to the music. 

After a refreshing break featuring palm wine and suya, the final round, “Charades,” saw Team Composure take the win, crowning them the overall champions of the games segment. The event wrapped up with performances from emerging artists, followed by a lively dance session that kept the energy high until the night’s end.
