MR TESTIMONY: The office of the General Secretary serves as the heart of any Executive council and over time I've been able to get great experiences around the office.
FATSSSA PRESS: With the experiences you have gathered, do you think you have what it takes to serve in this capacity?
MR TESTIMONY: Yes, I am currently a member of the UI'SU Secretariat committee, a member of Secretariat for the first ever Nigerian Model National Assembly and I am also the current General Secretary of the Kenneth Mellanby Hall Stakeholders forum e.t.c. apart from this I've also had meaningful conversations with past and present General Secretaries of our Students association.
FATSSSA PRESS: Can you differentiate between service and leadership?
MR TESTIMONY: No, I don't think so. Over time I've led different people in different ways and I've seen that leadership is not a platform to give commands but a platform to serve with both your time and resources.
FATSSSA PRESS: What are the roles of a general secretary?
MR TESTIMONY: According to the Constitution, the general Secretary is expected to: - Head the Secretariat; having access to all files and documents - Arrange for Executive and General meetings, by the instance of the president, stating the agenda for the meeting, Take minutes of the General and Executive meetings. And to work with other executives to have a comprehensive end-of-tenure report…The office should report discrepancies to the FHR.
FATSSSA PRESS: Describe your leadership style and how it aligns with these roles.
MR TESTIMONY: My leadership style is simply selfless service, and it aligns with this office because the office of the General Secretary is one that requires true diligence in detailing and accountability.
FATSSSA PRESS: What are the pressing challenges of FATSSSAites you plan to mitigate if elected as the general-secretary?
MR TESTIMONY: The major challenge I plan to mitigate is that of making the Executive body closer to FATSSSAites by initiatives that'll make the activities of the Executive council known to all FATSSSAites.
FATSSSA PRESS: What do you consider as key to successful leadership?
MR TESTIMONY: Building strong structures of transparent and accountable relationships with the FATSSSAites
FATSSSA PRESS: Do you consider yourself a leader, transparent and accountable? If yes, why?
MR TESTIMONY: Yes. Because through my other experiences of leadership and even in my personal life, I've always kept the rule of integrity, this has made me gain access to some incredible people and positions.
FATSSSA PRESS: What if the next administration fails under your watch, what would you say you could have done better?
MR TESTIMONY: Regardless of who wins the upcoming election and the next set of FATSSSA leaders I can't see the administration failing…
FATSSSA PRESS: Profoundly, every administration faces challenges. Let's assume you are elected as the general-secretary and your plans begin to fall apart, how would you respond as a leader?
MR TESTIMONY: I will make sure I look into the structure that I've put in place objectively, and ask questions from other people who have been in that office and most importantly, FATSSSAitesfor where the unforeseen circumstances could have risen from.
