NEWS: AMR Club, UI, holds Symposium in Faculty of the Social Sciences LLT

On November 24, 2024, AMR Club UNIBADAN concluded its Anti-Microbial Awareness Week with a symposium at the Faculty of Social Sciences Large Lecture Theatre.
The AMR week was a 6-day programme from the 18th to the 23rd of November, 2024. Their activity on the first day was visitation to a poultry farm. On the second day, a programme was held on one of the most listened-to radio stations in West Africa, Fresh FM, and the University of Ibadan radio station, Diamond FM. On the third day, there was a health walk around UI environments. There was an online AMR webinar on the fourth day and a visit to the abattoir on the fifth day.
The week was wrapped up with a fascinating symposium on the Burden of Antimicrobial Resistance. After the Introductory session, a Technical Session followed based on the environmental, animal and human health perspective of AMR. After which there was an interactive session which started with a panel session moderated by Babatunde Ogunbosi, a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Paediatrics, University of Ibadan.
Towards the end of the symposium, there was a presentation by Dokia on "Student Innovation to Curb Self-Prescription," followed by the induction of members into the Students' One Health Club.
The collaborators for the success of the program are the Students One Health Club, UI and Antimicrobial Resistance Club, UI. Other partners to have contributed to the success of the program include the University of Ibadan Students Union, University of Ibadan Medical Students Association, International Veterinary Students Association, Environmental Health Students Association, Pharma UI Research Club, Junior Chamber International, UCH, Association of Microbiology students, Food Technology students association, Faculty of science student association, Faculty of social sciences student association, and Nigerian University Nursing students association, UI.
The Program was facilitated by the UCH Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee (CWPAMS -2 IBADAN SHEFFIELD AMS PARTNERSHIP).
