The Realtors Continent, in collaboration with Raum and the Faculty of the
Social Sciences Students’ Association (FATSSSA), organised a real estate
conference titled "Follow the Money" at the Large Lecture Theatre,
Faculty of The Social Sciences. Despite a slightly delayed start, attendees
were treated to a day of insightful discussions, motivational quotes, and even
giveaways.
The event began with an electrifying performance by the DJ,
setting the stage for an exciting day. Mr Olamide Adesanya, the convener,
opened the conference by emphasising the immense potential of real estate. He
stated, "Real estate has made more millions than any other industry
combined," setting the tone for the day's discussions.
Christopher Hammed Adesina, a sociology student and co-host,
provided an overview of the event, highlighting the importance of real estate
for future success.
Mr Adesanya went on to share four key benefits of entering
the real estate industry, including its lucrativeness and its potential for
personal and financial growth. He also mentioned the extensive network he has
built in the industry, boasting of "20,000 CEO contacts on my phone."
The conference then took a fun turn with a giveaway, where
participants were asked to mimic motivational speakers. Two won shirts with
inspiring quotes such as "If opportunity knocks today, you be the
door" and "Success is not a product of overnight but a product of
over time."
The first speaker, Prof. Bernard Bowumi, a sociology
lecturer, focused on entrepreneurship and encouraged attendees to develop a
mindset of "I can do it." He emphasised the importance of reputation
and urged individuals to think outside the box.
To ensure inclusivity, a female participant won a shirt in
the next round of giveaways, sharing quotes like "From a cup of rice, you
can build a restaurant."
Mr Adesanya then shared his journey, revealing that he
gained inspiration for the "Follow the Money" event while working as
an Uber driver. He stressed the importance of patience, passion, and willingness
to learn in his success story, emphasising that real estate covers bills and
builds wealth.
The event featured more giveaways before Mr Paul Olubori
Kehinde, the founder of the first forex hub in Yaba, Lagos, took the stage. He
inspired the audience with messages about pursuing passion and character,
stating that "school is not a determinant of success."
The event also showcased talents, including a spoken word
performance by a 200-level student and a rap performance by Kiddy Blaze.
A Q&A session with Mr Adesanya and Mr Ajibola Egungbohun
addressed topics like starting in Forex as a beginner and the value of
relationships. Attendees were advised to be people of value, even when serving
others, as this would open doors to meaningful connections.
Mr. Abu delivered a speech on "Tech-driven real estate,
Navigating the digital revolution for profit and growth," the event
concluded with announcements and a vote of thanks to volunteers.
Despite a late start, attendees praised the insightful and
interesting talk sessions. The inclusion of a satisfying meal during the event
referred to as "item 7," was particularly appreciated by the
audience. One attendee noted, "It's rare to get such a 'confirm' item 7 at
school events nowadays."
In summary, the "Follow the Money" real estate
conference at the University of Ibadan left attendees feeling inspired and
motivated to explore the world of real estate and entrepreneurship.
