FIVE(5) FUN FACTS ABOUT THE CONSTITUTIONAL REVIEW PROCESS
Did you know that:
You can forward a bill to the house, through your constituency representative.
According to Chapter 3, Article 21, section (i),
“(i)All Organs of FATSSSA except the ad hoc Committees shall have the power to forward Bills on the Amendment of this Constitution to the FHR for consideration. Any bonafide FATSSSAite can do same only through the constituency representative.”
The constitution can be amended at any time.
According to Chapter 3, Article 21, section (ii)
“(ii)Amendments can be done at any/ every period in time as may be deemed fit and
It shall be either inclusion, rectification or removal and such shall only be valid
With the support of /3majority of members at a sitting.”
Only the house can initiate the constitutional Review Process:
According to Chapter 3, Article 21, section (ix),
“(ix) In the case of a Constitution Review, it shall be the exclusive preserve of the
House to initiate the process. However, notlessthan3years’spaceoftimemust
Elapse between the last review process and the proposed one.”
The constitutional Review committee has 10 members as stated in Chapter 3, Article 21, section (x),
“(x)It shall be enough for the House to cause a member to move a motion for the
Review process and shall there after set up an inter-Organ Committee of 10
comprising:
4 members of the FHR
2 Members of the Executive
2 members of the Congress nominated by the FHR
2 members of the FATSSSA Press, one whom shall be the Secretary.”
After the review process is done, a congress of 135 undergraduates has to congregate for approval and ratification.
In Chapter 7, article 21, section (xi):
“(xi)The Review shall be over-hauling and the report of such exercise shall be
Forwarded to the House, which shall after approve it, forthwith call a Congress of Social Scientists to present the Report to it for approval and ratification.”
In Chapter 3, Article 9, Sub-section (iii)
“(V)The Quorum at any duly convened Congress shall have 135 registered undergraduates of the Faculty ”
