The Dean was requested to deliver the Opening Speech, during which he expressed gratitude to all attendees of the event and praised the team responsible for the success of the inaugural essay competition, a unique event in its own right.

Following that, Mr. Emmanuel Akinwale, the Editor-in-Chief of the Faculty's press, took the stage to deliver his speech, highlighting the processes and people that contributed to the success of the essay competition.

Subsequently, the speakers, Prof Remi Aiyede and Dr Busari took the stage to discuss the topic of the essay competition - “AI and Governance; Is it a blessing or a curse?”

The speakers addressed the different methods by which AI has supported governance activities in society, warranting appreciation. Nonetheless, just as every coin has two sides, so does artificial intelligence. They stressed that people must be careful not to let their soft skills be supplanted by AI applications, as this could render them inept. Rather, they ought to focus on personal growth and make proper use of the resources offered by AI.

Mr. Segun Odunayo, the judge of the essay competition, was acknowledged at the event and invited to provide insights into the evaluation method of the essays and to discuss the different concerns of the essay writers he came across. He began by expressing gratitude to those who took part in the competition. Mr. Segun observed that certain applicants utilized AI to compose their essays, which was not a praiseworthy action. He also emphasized the importance of individuals closely following guidelines or instructions provided during assessment periods.

The event proceeded with the award of certificates and monetary prizes to the competition winners. Here is the list of the top three (3) winners of the inaugural FATSSSA Press Essay contest:
