FATSSSA Bye-Election: An Interview with Toluwase Abiodun- Financial Secretary Aspirant
By Ebiniyi Janet
FATSSSA Press: Good day. Please kindly introduce yourself and the office you’re running for.
MISS TOLU: My name is Toluwase Mercy Abiodun, I’m vying for the post of the Financial Secretary of the Faculty
FATSSSA PRESS: Why the post of the Financial Secretary?
MISS TOLU: Based on my level of expertise and wide range of experience I believe that I’m the right candidate for the position. Looking at the administrations so far I believe there is so much more I can do to make meaningful contributions.
FATSSSA PRESS: Have you ever held any post at your departmental level?
MISS TOLU: I’ve always been the person to support dreams and courses, although I may not have held a specific position but I’ve joined committees to work behind the scenes to achieve Departmental goals but I believe it’s high time I came out to the forefront which is why I would like to run for the position.
FATSSSA PRESS: What fueled your interest at faculty level?
MISS TOLU: To achieve the goal of creating the system of accountability, I believe that it will help to satisfy FATSSSAites at large rather than my department alone. The goal is to satisfy as many FATSSSAites as possible.
FATSSSA PRESS: You've emphasized the range of leadership positions you've had. In particular, how do you intend to manage your duty as Senior Special Advisor to the President on Fiscal Policy concerns in the Southwest Region of the National Association of Political Science Students with your other commitments as Financial Secretary?
MISS TOLU: One thing I do not joke with is proper planning and time management, I know and I have proven that I have the ability to perform excellently well in all my positions, all I need do is proper planning.
FATSSSA PRESS:Your manifesto places a strong emphasis on financial openness. What particular steps would you take to carry out your proposal to give students monthly financial reports, and what difficulties do you foresee along the way?"
MISS TOLU: I plan on expressing this transparency and openness through the congress and frequent memoranda to keep the students informed on how their dues are being spent.
One difficulty I think I might encounter is, this idea may not sit well with all but I believe that after stating concrete reasons we should reach a point of agreement.
FATSSSA PRESS: You mentioned providing financial tips and organizing financial orientations for students. Can you elaborate on some specific financial topics or skills you believe are most crucial for students to learn, and how you would go about delivering this information effectively?"
MISS TOLU: One of [the] things I believe that students are getting wrong about the concept of money is their financial mindset. If you can get the mindset right we can set ourselves right on the path of financial freedom and it’s sustenance.
As for how, we would Partner with the PRO to use the media platforms like the WhatsApp TV to disseminate the information.
FATSSSA PRESS: How do you plan to balance your academic responsibilities with the demands of the Financial Secretary position?
MISS TOLU: Like I said earlier, one thing I do not joke with is proper planning and time management, in order to avoid lapses in any of my responsibilities I will take extra time to arrange schedules. So that neither would my academics nor position as Financial Secretary fail in any way possible.
FATSSSA PRESS: Alright, that will be all, thank you.
MISS TOLU: Thank you too for your time
